Hit a major Plateau........Need some advice

Greetings all,

I need a little advice or direction on how to break this plateau that I have been on for over a month now. Posted this on the main forum but need to hear from my friends here as well.

I had my surgery on 02/06/09 and have lost 154 pounds since my journey began. I know that we are going to hit plateaus during our journey but I never expected it to last for over a month. I have had some issues and got off track of protein intake but am now back to over 100 grams of protein a day. I workout on my tradmill daily at a pretty intense setting (for me LOL) 2mph at a 6% incline for 30 mins with a 5 min warm up and cool down. In addition, a group of us from OH get together 3 or 4 times a week and do a walking routine of almost 2 miles.

I just need to hear from others what you have done to break the plateau. I know I had a lot of weight to lose and still 72 pounds away from my first goal. I think I have done pretty good for the first 7 months but I am getting a little concerned at this point.

Thanks in advance

Have a great day............Rick

I think you have done excellent!  I don't know what to tell you about your plateau but you are really an inspiration to me!

Rick,
Congrats on your awesome weight loss. You should be  very proud of yourself.
There comes a time in our journey that our body says, wow, let me catch up to you. Those time it is going to be slow on the loss of pounds. This is the time your body is try to adjust. I hope you took measurements before surgery. I would almost bet that your losing inches right now in place of the pounds.

Your doing good...some times we get into a starvation mode. Our body hangs on the fat especially when we do no or low fat eating. It thinks it's not going to get anymore so won't release it. I had a trainer tell me that when this mode happens to eat a little something a bit higher in calories and trick the body into thinking your going to feed it more....Hope I explained that good..

Your doing great......:)

Hey Rick Congrats !

You had your surgery a few weeks before I did, and you have already lost allot more then me. However, I had the same problem when I was stuck at 90 lbs lost. I was stuck for about 40 days, and I was very upset. I spoke to my Doc, and the dietitian. both of them told me to increase my calorie in take. I know those are fighting words, but it has something to do with the body's thermostat. All I know was I added some extra calories, about a couple of hundred, and I started dropping again. With the way we burn the intake, it won't hurt us, and the body will start dropping again. Then you can go back to your normal intake levels.

I think I need to get a tread mill.  Wow !
