Exercise Routine
Best bet is to get with a trainier at the gym but make sure he has knowledge of WLS patients. For the most part, our needs are different and we are pron to injuries due to the lack of excercise in our past lives and the weight bearing on our joints.
A Simple routine is get on a treadmill and start at the slowest setting no incline for 5 mins, step up the speed to the next level and go for 5 mins or as long as you can and then slow back down to the slow speed for 5 mins. Sounds like nothing now but your body will adjust and you will be able to go for longer periods and eventually, be able to do some of the higher inclines and such.
Word of caution, these treadmills can be evil and throw you off if they dont like ya (trust me, know from experience)
Have a great day...........Rick

Hey Kelli!
I just joined 24 hour fitness too! And I notice your location says Santee and that's the one I go to!! :O)
They offer whats called a Fitness Orientation, I spent about an hour with a personal trainer and she went over exactly what I should be doing and for how long..... so check with the front desk and ask if you can schedule that appt..... I also started water aerobics and I love it... very easy on the joints and I don't sweat at all. lol

My suggestion is to start with 2 days of cardio and 2 days of strength training of some sort. Then build from there.
Also, you should think about what type of exerciser you are. For example, some people do better with scheduled class, some if they have a buddy, some if they work alone. Some need to mix things up a lot and some are happy to do the same thing day in and day out.
Once you figure that out, you can set up a routine that works for you that has the right combination of activities that you'll stick with.

Thank you for all the tips! I started and have been doing about 30 minutes of a fast walk on the treadmill, 20 mintutes on the bike, and 15 minutes of arm curls (gotta get the bat wings under control)
I am setting up a time with a trainer just to see where I need to be.
Thanks again for all the tips
