Mom's Surgery Tomorrow

Hi all,

I am a bundle of nerves. My mom is having a large cancerous tumor removed tomorrow during surgery. I've taken 2 weeks of unpaid Family Medical Leave to be with her in the hospital and at home. I am usually not nervous over things like surgery, but I am today. I am scared about my ability to handle every outcome. I've been doing well up to this point in trying to live moment by moment and not thinking of worst case scenarios.

I ate too much for a couple of days and felt physically awful, but today I am back to eating the way I want to. I know I was stress eating. I don't want to do that again. I will take all the good food I need when I am at the hospital and staying at her house.

My mom was diagnosed with stage IV uterine cancer more than three years ago. She did well for a couple of years after multiple treatments, but it's back. The surgeon and her doctors said she has defied odds and will probably continue to do so.

Just wanted to type out the thoughts in my head.

You and your mother will be in my prayers starting right now.  You hang in there!

msblues,

You mom, you and your family are in my special prayers. I will pray that Our Father calms your heart and mind. Being nervous is definatly normal. It is great that you are able to take 2 weeks off to care for your mom. You are a strong woman and have been beside your mom this whole time, you can handle this. Just remember to take care of you at the same time. One breath at a time.
Hugs, love, & friendship,

Michelle T.

Evening MsBlues
My heart goes out to you....this is not an easy time for you :-(  And obviously, not for your mom either.  You both are in my special prayers regarding her surgery tomorrow.  I hope you both find peace and comfort in knowing that our Father above is watching and supporting you both.  Please keep us posted on your mom's progress.

Ms. Blues,

I am adding you and your Mom to my prayer list.  Please take care of you during all of this too.  I know all too well how it is to be where you are as I was in the same position with my own Mom.

Hugs,
Barb

Thanks for the kind words and prayers. That means a lot.  I just have to keep remembering my mom is strong and usually comes through surgery like a champ.

I may take my laptop with me so I can check in on a regular basis.

Thanks again,

MsBlues

Ms Blues,

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your mom and your family.  This is a tough thing to have to go through.  I pray that the surgery went well, or will go well and that mom recovers nicely.

Remember that while she is in the hospital you can keep her company, but she has nurses and doctors to care for her.  In the meantime, while doing your daughterly duty of staying with her their, you need to take care of you.  When you are at home with her, I can see the stress setting in and you just make sure to take your good food.

We are all here for you if you need to shout, yell, scream, talk, or just plain old support for you.
Please keep us posted on the outcome of her surgery.

We are all praying for a good outcome on your moms surgery.  Believe in the power of prayer, it works.

God Bless and Good Luck
Annette

I fully understand what you are going through.  Cancer is horrible, but your mom is doing so much better than my mom.  From the time she was diagnosed till her passing was 3 months.  She had stage IV lung cancer, and there was nothing they could do for her at all.  So there is a good side to what your mom is going through.

Know that your mom and yourself are in my prayers and throughts.

Hugs, Diane
