Good Monday Morning Cali
Greetings and Happy Monday to all...
I am sure by the time I hit submit someone else will post too, but two heads are better than one anyway.
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I know our So Cal friends who did the walk/run yesterday did. This weekend was rather trying on this end for us. Ron's Dad went back into the hospital early Sat. morning and it's not looking good. On top of that his Mom is sick with Bronchitis so she can't go to the hospital to be with him or see him. Yesterday we called his sister in Canada and told her if she wants to see him, now is the time and if he should come out of it then it would be a plus. I think the Drs think that he has endured so much these past tew years that it's a blessing he may have pneumonia as it may be his best friend in the end. Your prayers and good thoughts would be greatly appreciated for God's will to be done, quick and mercifally for all. This all happened very fast as he had just went to the Dr on Thursday and he commented how great Bert looked and was doing.
So I will go to work today and then pick my sister in law up from the airport and we'll see what shakes. Ron is going to the hospital to meet with the Drs today. We are all on the same page as far as his Dad's wishes which were no heroic medicine and thankfully our Dr. is wonderful and almost like family when it comes to that.
It's not usually my shtick to be a little down as you know but this is the circle of life and sometimes it just isn't too happy to deal with.
I hope everyone has a great week ahead and go hug a family member or a friend and tell them how much they mean to you.
Hugs,
Barb

Good Morning all. Ugh, Monday. I get to work and my partner in crime called in sick. Double worse as it's going to hit the fan here in a while when this storm hits.
Yesterday was about as lazy as it gets. I got up at 9:00 am, had my protein shake and snuggled up in a blankie and watched a movie on HBO. Somewere in the middle of it all I fell back asleep. I woke up, rolled over and went back to sleep again. Goodness somewhere around 2:30 I finally got up and took a shower. Joe and I ran a few errands, visited some friends showed off some pictures and came home and I was in bed and asleep by 10.
Now that's my kind of day sometimes. All Sundays should be like this!
Off to work I go - papers to shovel Protein in, vitamins in, water going strong and exercise will happen somewhere along the line!

Good Morning Barb and California! How is everyone this wonderful and beautiful day? I hope well. I am rejuvinated from my walk and I had such a wonderful time with Jean yesterday! She is truely an amazing woman! She was such an encouragement to me and to others during the walk. I had the opportunity to talk with several of the ladies while I was walking along the way and they too encouraged us to keep on going! Peole on the side of the street were cheering us on also. My husband was a dear when he was texting me each and every mile when I would give him updates. I can't beging to tell you how wonderuful it is to cross the finish line after 13.1 miles. It was amazing really. It is a feeling of such great accomplishment. I just loved it and can't wait for the marathon next year. I am going to do the entire thing next year. I know that I can, I just have to pick up the pace a bit as they only give us 7 hours to finish and my current time would be over 8 1/2 hours. That would not work for that. So I guess I got to get my time to less than that. I am sure in the next year I can. WEll that is all from me today. Thanks Barb for making the post. Rhonda 7666 Rhonda Foster F 50-54 |

Barb, I am so sorry that events have not gone as hoped. I have so enjoyed getting to know Isla, I was hoping someday to meet Bert also. All of you are in my prayers...losing a parent, or any family member, is so hard to go thru. If there is ANYTHING I can do to help..please let me know. My heart aches for you all....may God's mercy comfort you and I hope you can find some peace in knowing that what ever happens, it is God's will..and it is a blessing.
Love to you all

Nancy,
We'll just take it a day at a time. Tonight I went to the hospital and helped to feed Bert and he ate every spoonful. He was alert and even joked a bit. The doctors feel that they valve that cut the food /liquids off from going down into the lungs has become weak and is allowing food/liquid into the lungs when he coughs after eating or drinking and then it becimes pneumonia. Apparently there isn't much to be done for this at his age and health so this may be something we just have to deal with. We may need to look at assisted living though as Isla can't handle this on her own.
Talk to you soon,
Hugs & love,
Barb

well, barb, yes, i've heard pneumonia called "the old people's friend" just for that reason... may your FIL go when he is meant to go, and peacefully, and with the love of his family surrounding him...
God bless YOU and give you strength during this time, too...
you are right...it's the circle of life, but it doesn't make this part of it "easy", does it?
As for me... taking today off to have some down time after a very emotionally trying week at work with a VERY difficult class that has fallen to me to teach this year... Lord, strengthen me!!
love to all...
Lori

Good Monday Morning!!
A big congrats to all the walkers, runners and cyclists!! There's still a few MIA's though....
Lena, how's your hand? I heard you got scraped up a bit?
Liz, how did the bike tour go? No crashes I hope!
Jackie, how did you do?!?!
Javi, where are you? Still out there running?
Janene & Harley...did you run? I got your message, I really hope you're feeling better!!!
I had a lovely 5k walk, I really wanted to run but I'm having a minor knee issue...otherwise I would have been out there working it! I will be at the Turkey Trot though, the run for pie continues!!!!
Have a happy Monday!!
