My First Foamies! --- TMI warning
Hey Crystal,
Sorry to hear about your "foamies" episode. I know it just sucks. I had the foamies once since surgery and that was all I needed. UGH! I have heard people say on the board that they just can't do leftovers. I haven't had a problem with it, but as they say what is good today isn't always good for our pouches tomorrow. I have never had the burping problem or the bathroom problems that seem to plague a lot of people (knock on wood). I hope you are feeling better. I was just wondering about you the other day. Send me a PM, sometime. We can chat. Take care.

Chicken meat is know to make alot of us sick. I still have trouble with it, almost 3 years out. The one thing I learned is no breast meat, only dark meat. It's alot more moist that the white meat. Make sure you eat very slowly when you eat chicken, and take very small bite, I mean baby bites. The foamies suck, I think we have all done it at least once. Usually too when you do vomit, it's not like what normal people do, it never really gets anywhere, and it's just what we have eaten, and when all the food is cleared out of our pouches we always feel much better. My food never got to my pouch it always got stuck at the opening and up it came. I did that for 8 months, then all of a sudden, one day, it stopped and I have been fine every since. Just take it easy next time and like I said baby bites. You can always PM me if you have a question or worry about something...not like I know everything, but I have usually been there done that one time or another.
Hugs, Diane

I'm a pretty good chewer surprisingly (I thought chewing would be one of the harder things after surgery) so I'm pretty sure that wasn't the problem. Also the fact tha none of the actual food ended up having to come up, makes me think I must have done alright. I think the dryness just made it stick in my pouch too long and made the mucus start coming to help it through. When I had the same chicken the night before it was a bit more moist and it went down without a hitch, but the microwave made it too dry when I reheated it.
