Diane,

Please take care of yourself!  The next time your blood sugar is low, have Doug make a sugary paste (kind of runny consistancy); that way, it will go down your throat easily.

Hey there Lady, cut that crap out, you hear me.  Don't you go scaring everybody like that.  Also, keep some OJ on hand.  I've heard that to boost your sugar really quickly, OJ gets into the system very fast.  Or get some of those glucose type sugar things.  Don't ask me what they are really, I just know there is something out there that has quick acting glucose in it.  Or better yet eat regular meals.  I know that sounds foreign to you, but try it.  Silly girl.  You take care.  If you need anything, as always, just holler at us.

Love ya,
Steph

Diane,

That sure is scary to have happen! Please make sure you are eating enough, even if it a few light meals. As everyone else has said glucose tabs are best, they melt into your system quite fast and do the job. My mom is diabetic quite bad and is insulin resistant. So we are constantly having to monitor her with her hypoglycimia and hyperglycimia. I am glad you are feeling a little better. Please take care of yourself. I know Doug will take care of you, and you him.

I was a diabetic, so I really do know what I need to do.  I had plenty of stuff around for me to take care of the sugar problem, but with being very symptomatic of a heart attack, I didn't even think it would be sugar related.  I had not had one problem in almost 3 years.  It was my insulant resistance that caused my diabetes which was caused by PCOS that I have had since 12.. I am very medically savey, but as I said, there was nothing pointing to my sugar level going low, and not until the medics checked did I know. I think it was the chest pains and the extremely high blood pressure that threw me a curve ball.   I will next time take the OJ I have less than 5 feet from me, or the little hard candies that I always carry in my purse.  Don't need to worry, and I thank you all for caring, guess I was a little ignorant as to what can happen to any of us.  I just need to eat more, that day I was very lean on the eating, won't be happening again

Diane,
be careful, I was having low blood sugars and found I had to have a small snack between breakfast and lunch.  Maybe you should have an evening snack.  Take care.

Well, I am feeling better.  I was a little worried that I might get this flu thing, but so far just a raspy throat.

This weekend brings lot's and lot's of baseball on TV for the ALCS & NLCS.  Hoping the weather holds up in NY so we can play today and tomorrow.  The Dodgers better up their game if they want to move forward.

Did my laundry last night, tonight brings dusting, vaccuming, mopping.

Tomorrow my hubby and I are going to the Santa Anita Races w/ one of his vendors.  We have such a blast, there is soooooooo much food, and drinks.  I know, they do have plenty of protein so that is a +.  Would love to have a mixed drink or hell, even a soda but I don't miss it, so I will just take my crystal light packets to add in to the water bottles.

Sunday will bring grocery shopping and then I am off to buy me some clothes w/my birthday $$, and I am going alone so that I don't buy things for other people, just me, me, me.   I just need a couple pairs of pants and a light jacket as the heater in our office broke last yeat and it still is not fixed.

I have started Christmas shopping for the little things like stocking stuffers, now I just need to decide what I am going to buy my kids.  Hubby & I do not exchange gifts anymore.

Well, hope those of you that are sick, feel better quickly.

Nancy and Barb - You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Diane - You really do need to eat.  My husband is diabetic and when his sugar dropped to 37 on 2/14/09 I literally thought he was having a stroke.  You can very easily slip into a stroke or even die if your sugar is too low or too high.  Take care of yourself lady.  I know, it is always nice to see those handsome men in the ambulance but not at the risk of your health.

Take care, have a good one everybody.

I don't need to call 911 to see those men, I got one of my own uniform and all!  Ambulance personnel don't do it for me, it's the firefighters, and I would walk over and say HI anyday.  As I just wrote, I know all about caring for myself with sugar problems, but I have not taken any insulin or diatetic meds for 3 years since surgery, so this was just a shocker.  I was going into a diabetic coma, I can remember trying to keep my brain together, telling the medics over and over what meds I was on, and telling them I was a bypass patient, last thing I needed was them to try and sick a tube down my throat...thankfully when they saw I was not having a heart attack, they ran an ECG strip, and checked my sugar level, they immediately gave me glucose through my IV.

I was only offering my support from what I know.  I don't know you well enough to know that you were a diabetic.  As for uniforms, yes I will agree that you have your own uniform and all.  I was only trying to give a chuckle.

My post was not to offend you or anyone else, I thought I was offering support.  Sorry, I just feel that you singled me out on this as your reply was posted to my support post and there are so many others before and after.  Sorry, next time I will keep my supporative opinions to myself.

Glad your feeling better.
