I got my labs back and everything looks great except my Protein, Total, Serum is a 6.0 which is right on the lower edge of "normal" and my Iron Bind. Cap. (TIBC) is a 239 and it says it's low.  Anybody know what this  means?  Everything else looks great and is in the "normal" range.

Can anyone 'splain it to me????

Hi MoMo,

The total iron-binding capacity test (TIBC), is just a test that measures the bloods capacity to bind iron with one of the proteins in our bodies that carries iron around our body. Anything less than 250 is considered low, and may be a indication of anemia. Of course it is up to your doctor to read and interpret your tests. But just thought I'd give you a little heads up. Normal range is usually between 250-420 mcg/dL. Hope this helps.

Thanks Michelle.  I've always tended to be a bit anemic.  I know when it gets bad as I get butt-dragging tired and I show up with bruises all over me in strange places.  The bruising hasn't been too bad, but more than normal.

Thanks a bunch hun.............
