I have my first meeting with my surgeon tomorrow morning and would love some input on what questions everyone suggests I ask.  I have most of the basic questions but just wondering if there are any others I should ask from all you experienced ppl out there. Thank you so much for all your help(in advance).   Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

I am not sure what your basic questions you already have or what type of surgery you're having, but you can asking him what you should expect, what is the down time, if he has guidelines of what you can and can not eat.  Maybe a sample menu plan and even vitamins.  Through my journy, I have learned that every doctor is different.  Just remember to listen to your doctor.

Good luck tomorrow...

Michele

thanks Michele, I guess I wasn't very specific on my post. I am looking to have the RNY surgery and by basic questions I meant like hospital stay time, downtime, insurance coverage, cost of surgery. Just very basics. Thank you for your insite and will keep everyone here posted on the outcome. Cross your fingers, I really want to have a healthier happier life!

It is going to go great tomorrow.  What insurance do you have if you don't mind me asking?

I have HealthNet PPO and since I used my PPO I did not have to do the 6 month nutrition class that some people had to do before there surgery got approved, but that maybe a good questions to ask.

Good luck...I can't wait to hear back from you....

Hi there, I think you already got all the good questions to ask already.  Seems that you have them all down.   Make sure you have them written down so you don't forget.  I can't tell you how many times I say to myself, oh I will remember, and that don't happen, so bring them written down.

I will tell you, I did the RNY for my health, and I can't be happier.  Within WEEKS I was off of my diabetic meds and all blood pressure meds.  I actually had to watch very carefully my blood sugar.  Even thought I am not at goal, which I don't care about, I am much healthier.  I can't believe how much I have changed inside and out and I have never been sorry one day for what I did/

Keep us updated on how it went at the docs.

Goodness, you are so young still and you have so much life to yet live.  I am very glad that you are taking the opportunity now.  I wish I had done this a very long time ago, but at 60, I am so happy that I am so healthy too.  My only problem is that my joints are worn and tired from carrying so much weight around for so long.  You will divert so many problems, go for it all!!!

Be waiting to hear.
