Monica W...THANK YOU!!!
That info you shared w/me at coffee about special ed kids no longer having to pass the CAHSEE is TRUE! All levels of special ed... RSP... SDC...
My difficult class is 25% special ed... the class is supposedly a CAHSEE prep class... so now... how can it be justified to keep them in this class, impeding the learning of the 75% of the class that WANTS to try to learn?
Actually, there are a few of the special ed kids who ARE working, and who are welcome to stay... (not that i have anything to say about it!)... but besides the class just being too large (34, currently), there are many discipline problems among the rowdy crowd...
So, armed with the info you gave me, i'm talking with our special ed dept. chair about making some changes...
God bless you!!!!!!!!

My Daugher had and IEP. SHe was made to stress about passing the math portion of the CAHSEE. I think its ridiculous. That kid stressed and stressed about it too. She was in a CAHSEE prep class. Teacher he was awesome. But silly to stress these kids who are afraid that they will not get to graduate. She was always focused on school but had to stress. This si a kid who also had 3.0 gpa but was still in special ed regular classess ect. She was in a monitored program. She would check in weekly.

thanks, monica!! as of tomorrow, i will have an AIDE! I only hope the aide is someone who will work well w/the kids... actually, there will be two aides, switching off every other week...
I still cannot imagine WHY these kids haveto have Language Arts essentially twice a day, and math, too, twice a day (with a LA CAHSEE prep class, and a math CAHSEE prep class) if they DON'T EVEN NEED TO PASS THE DANG THING!
this is something that (supposedly) the district is working on...
will keep ya posted!
thanks again.. you helped me stir up a pot o' trouble! LOL
