TOTALLY TERRIFIC TUESDAY!

Good Morning Crew!  Yes, I am UP and at work at 0400!!!!  They're expecting high winds today so they've pre-arranged a bunch of us to be here at work.  One of the bone-heads already burnt coffee so not only is it o'dark early o'clock but it smells bad in here too!

I had a good long chat with my bestest girlfriend of 39 years last night.  She needs some prayers folks and hopefully I can get some suggestions from y'all.  She is exhausted and I need to find her some help.  Her parents lived in the house with her.  She lost her dad about 9 months ago after a year long battle with cancer.  Her mother is still there but battling some form of dementia.  She spent 4 days in the hospital last week because of a kidney infection / bladder infection.  She was dehydrated.  Lauri has now taken control of mom's medicines because mom can't remember when she takes the meds and takes too much.  Mom's mad at her.  In order to make ends meet, she has a roommate who has 2 kids.  Add to it her daughter and it's a full house.  To make things worse, the roommate and her 2 kids are not helping out to keep things clean.

We had a gooooood long chat.  I hit on a subject that was painful but needed to be said.  She's depressed and as such she's self-medicating with alcohol in the evenings.  Makes herself numb to the problems.   We had a long talk about that and she has agreed to no alcohol drinking except on Friday evenings and then it will be maximum of 2 glasses.  I told her I'd help.  I'll come down and spend an entire weekend and clean her house (but she had to get rid of everyone living there and let me do my thing).  I'll bring my cleaning crew.  And we work cheap and fast!  Put on some tunes and slap on the rubber gloves - we're here!

I'm thinking she'll qualify for some In Home Health Care for mom through the county as well as some respite care.  Her brother is in town but does not pull his fair share.  I'm working on it but suggestions and prayers are always welcome!

So, what do we all have on our plates for today?  C'mon spill the beans.  For me it's work, and hopefully a good nap.

Make sure you get your vitamins in, drink your water and move your boooo-tay!  C'mon people, let's see a little pep in your step today!!!!

Good morning MoMo and cali crew
I will be praying for your friend.....she does need help for sure...I dealt with the dementia with my mom...she had alzheimers for 10 yrs from beginning to end...my dad cared for her until the last year.  Caregivers MUST have help.  Definitely have her look into home health care and for sure respite care.  She needs to have a serious sit down with her family and tell them they must help.  If you contact  your local chapter of the Alzheimers Association they can help with resources.  It is not an easy disease to deal with and definitely not on your own.   I did the majority of care for my mom (and dad since he had lost his license) and it does take a toll....but I definitely had my sisters moral support...

For me today is the grocery store and a little shopping trip Kohls to spend my birthday gift card...thank  you ladies....

Then this evening my new man friend is coming over and we are going for a walk then I am fixing dinner.....just a quiet evening...

So everyone have a great day and do something nice for yourself.

PS  Mo MO - I am so looking forward to the 14th...

Hugs to all

Good morning MoMo,

4am is stinking early to be at work and I know exactly how you feel and since I don't drink coffee I would be the bone-head that would burn it...Sorry about that....

Also, I will say a prayer for you friend....I am so sorry to hear she is going through so much, but she is one lucky gal to have you has a best friend.

I have been up since 2:30am....I should have know when the little one slept so much yesterday she would be up early this morning...I just didn't think it would be 2 frinken 30 in the morning...Boy, is it going to be a long day.  I know I am still off work since my surgery, but today I am going to a Women's Conference at the
Long BeachConvention Center with some ladies from work.  They're expecting something like 25,000 people...boy, is that a lot of people....but if you have never been at the LB Convention Center it is beautiful!!!!  I guess it would be a good idea for me to bring my pain meds...since it will be a long day and I am not driving....

But, being up so early isn't all that bad...Rhonda got me hooked on Cafe' on facebook...and I was so worried about my food...I couldn't sleep anyways....Thanks Rhonda!!!

Well, mentioning my Cafe' I need to go check on the food cooking and finish getting ready....I need to look nice with the new twins....this is there first trip out for a full day...LOL

Hope you all have a wonderful day....

Hugs, Michele

MoMo.
I am sure that my opinion here is not that important but I will let you know what I do know. I do this every single day.
First off where does your friend live. I am not sure what her Moms insurance is. She can look in the phone book for In Home Supportive Services.http://www.dss.cahwnet.gov/cdssweb/PG139.htm. This is the website.
Recommend that your friend also get into a dr. She needs to get into a dr to get some low dose meds to help her with this. Another option is to contact the local hospital that she was in and ask for either the case management dept or social worker to see if they can also give her some information on other community resources such as caregivers that may be low cost.
She should also contact her moms dr to see if she can get a home health nurse to come to the house to help your friend with a medication list and putting together a med box for her. It will be safe to have someone review the medications with her. . If her mom has some degree of dementia is there a power of attorney for healthcare as well as finances (these are 2 seperate animals).
Its all very overIwhelming.
If you need any more information let me know.

Thanks Liz.   They live in Roseville and I know there are services out there to help her.  I will be walking her through these.  I'll do the research for her and give her a condensed list to deal with.  I know she has a power of attorney for healthcare and one for finances already.  Mom was just tested for Altzheimers and it's negative, it's just aging dementia.

My first plan of action is to get down there and clean the house.  I know it's a small thing, but a clean house always makes me feel much better and think clearer.  She's so overwhelmed.

Then we'll sit and talk and I'll help her make some clear decisions and weigh some options.  Then we'll get her brother involved.  They're in the same town but very little help to her at all.

MOMO!

I tried to get you last night but that darn face book just does not work!  Sorry about the burnt coffee I am sure it was an ex coffee drinker who did that!  lol.  Sorry about your friend.  But she does need to bring in help or she will loose it!  It is hard.  Today I have so much going on, but how is that different from any other day?  I can't wait for the 14th either.  Going to be a blast.  Little Michelle and Jean I think I rember that I said don't go there to Cafe World.  It causes is crazy times!  lol.  HOw do you think I got this way?....... Cafe World.....roflmao.    It is actually fun o.k. I am addicted to it and now everyone else is o.k. all my fault.  Well we can start a 12 step program.....Step one!  Admited we were powerless over Cafe World and only a power greater than us could restore us to sanity.  I don't want to be sain  I quit!

Good Morning MoMo and Cali Friends,

MoMo, I will keep your friend in my thoughts and prayers.  As you explained to her, the alcohol will only add to the problem and the extra free loaders probably aren't helping, it's time for an intervention with them.  Resources for her, Jean mentioned the Alzheimer group which was an excellent idea.  Also, a place that I continue to go for info and resources is the Discharge Planners at your Major hospital in the area.  They have lists there at the ready of free and low cost resouces for all sorts of things.  Also your county office should have an office on aging.  Does the mom qualify for financil aid or any other benefits such as that?  Did she work, was she in the service?  Lots of hidden benefits out there sometimes.

You can always call me if you need help, of couse I'd come help you anytime.

Today is work, then home and crash.  I worked 12 hours yesterday and I'm pooped.

Hugs to all.
