Get up you ornthern girls!  I just heard that the OBB is closed this morning and indefinatley until they can figure out why it is falling down on drivers.  I hope that does not mess up too many of your comutes to work.  But if you take it you are going to have to go around at least for a while.  I will keep you gals in my prayers.

Hi
There are several other bridges, San Mateo, Dumbarton (both off 101).  the both will allow you to get to Livermore and are closer to 680 which will be the freeway you would use to get to the 580 to Livermore.  Hope you map quested it!

yeah I'm printing all sorts of maps now.

I intended on exploring San Fran all day Sunday before I had to head to my hotel.
I'm trying to narrow down my list to exactly what I want to see

I've been told

- Warf
- Cliff House
- Crooked Street
- Castro
- The Bridges

I want to see a Sequoia, but Im sure that's totally out.

Hi Tony,

San Francisco is an awesome place. I've spent a lot of time there and lived there for a temporary job. I live just 70 miles south of the city. I highly recommend the following. Since you have one day, this is what I would do.

-Take the bus to the Golden Gate Bridge. Walk out on the bridge, but since you only have a day, I wouldn't take the time to walk across the whole thing and back. There is an old civil war era fort underneath the bridge, but I wouldn't go to it because there isn't public transportation to it and you'd spend a lot of time getting to it by walking.
-Check out the F line trolley. The F line does a loop that takes you to Fisherman's wharf, Union Square up Market Street next to Union Square. Ask the hotel staff if it's near your hotel or how you'd get to it.  Some of the F lines even continue on to the Castro. The F line will allow you to get on and off to see all these things.  The F line also uses old trolleys from the early 20th century so the ride alone is fun.
-Some people will tell you to go to Pier 39. It's the ultimate tourist trap, but the views of the bay from the pier are pretty cool and there is a colony of sea lions that have taken over a boat dock right next to the pier. You get to be pretty close to these funny creatures
-You can walk to Fisherman's Wharf from Pier 39, but once again, it's very touristy. You can waste a lot of time there. If you walk to the end of Pier 39, There is Ghiradelli Square which has nice views of the Bay and cute stores. You can also catch a cable car from across the street that will take you to Union Square.
-Union Square is right in the middle of the amazing shopping district. Lots of hustle and bustle here. Just a block away is Chinatown, which I highly recommend. Chinatown is unique and a fun place to walk around. Chinatown is on Grant Street, but if you look up from Grant Street there are small alleys where you will find walkways with no cars, budhist temples and a fortune cookie factory where you can watch workers make fortune cookies.
-If you walk to the end of Grant Street, North Beach or Little Italy picks up where China town ends. That's also a fun neighborhood to check out and the legendary Molinari's deli is there for lunch.

I hope I haven't overwhelmed you, but I just love San Francisco. I hope you enjoy it too.

Check out the Haight Ashbury district. I fell in love with it when I was there in 2005.

Frankly I am not surpirsed.
I haven't been on it in 20 years since the 1989 Earthquake broke a section.
