There is a chewable calcium I get a Target, that tastes really good. It's the Target brand....sorry can't remember much more than that.

I take all my vitamins (except the iron) as soon as I get to my desk at work. Then I take the iron pill and place it on the corner of my keyboard so that I see it all day. I usually take it before I leave for lunch.

Hi Monica -

You are too young to not remember - LOL

I need to figure something out that would be easy.  I still take quite a bit of medication on top of the vitamins / supplements.  Since I take my iron first thing in the morning I am thinking I should just keep my tums or Calcium (if I change) next to the monitor at work and home which will help me greatly.

How much vitamin B12 do you take?  I only take 1 tablet weekly and I am thinking of maybe upping it to 3x a week.

Thanks girlie, much appreciated

I'm not as young as you think I am...and I'm forgetful too! LOL!

I have mediction that I have to take in addition to the vitamins that makes things more complicated too. I have to take my thyroid meds first thing in the morning with a glass of water and I can't take anything else or eat for an hour after that.

So in a way it's good because I start drinking my water early. I drink water from the time I wake up til I get to work and sometimes I can drink as much as 32 ounces before my day even starts. THen I can do the first half of my vitamins, after lunch I take my iron...so I'm taking pills for a good part of the day. I carry them in one of those pill organizers.

I take my B-12 two to three times a week, there's no harm in it your body will discard whatever extra B12 it doesn't need in your urine. It will help give you a little more energy.

Hi Annette,

Bariatric Advantage makes a chewable calcium that has vitamin D. I prefer it over the chalky chewables that they also make. You can order them online. I was also having a hard time remembering to take my calcium at times far enough away from the time I take my multi-vitamin. I also had to add more iron to my day which means even more tracking.

I take my multi-vitamin in the morning. I take the calcium with lunch. I take the extra dose of iron at dinner. I also bought a really cute pill box for my purse so I can have my doses with me at all times. If I didn't do this, I would forget. I take a second dose of calcium before I go to bed. If all the pills won't fit in a pill box, get ziplock baggies and throw them all in and put the ziplock on your purse.

For your bladder, I've heard people setting up a schedule and that their body acclamates to it. Maybe you can find more info online about it, but that is something I read once in an article. I've also noticed when I drink more water, my bladder seems to calm down and gets used to holding more liquid. Since surgery I've been surprised at how much it can hold despite all the water I am drinking.

Good luck with both challenges!

Hi Ms Blues

I don't mind the chaulky, I just forget to take the morning dose.  Why do you take the calcium at a different time than your multi?  I found my book and am currently looking at it with the instructions of:  do not take calcium and iron at the same time.  take at least two hours apart.

I am RNY and this is the directions in my manual.  I guess I should pay closer attention to peoples avatar which shows the type of surgery they had.  As for my multi vitamin, I am using the flinstones chewable.  The nutritionist I saw during the classes before surgery said they were perfectly fine for a multi vitamin.  I have enough left for probably a month then I am going to look into a different multi.

I get the bariatric advantage e-mail all the time, I need to do some more research for pricing.  I buy my stuff at Costco right now.

I also need to up my protein and I had a sample of gotein.  Looking to purchase some of that and the nectar seems to be a popular favorite amongst many.  I may look into get some sample packs for different things in the next couple of weeks.

The bladder has been a problem for some time, but since surgery I now find that I just can't hold it and need to go NOW.  Thank goodness for panti liners.

Thank you so much for your advice it is greatly appreciated.

PS:  How is mom feeling these days?  Hope all is better.

Caffeine is a diuretic. This means that it makes you pee more, so the fluid does not stay in your body. It can also aggravate (Make worse) your incontinence. I forget the exact recommendation, but its something like you have to drink an extra glass of water for every caffeinated beverage to make up for it.
Try cutting out caffeine for a while and see what happens, you may not have to support Always the rest of your life.  I found that when I don't drink caffeine I don't have the sneeze problem.
