OH Website and my computer  Today at 11:18am I am unable to log into OH, right now, due to my account status. I was able to re-boot or clear out my computer. I was able to view posts made reguarding my current "deactivated status". Funny thing is a lot of people have my cell number and very few people chose to call me and personally ask me what was going on. So I have opted to take this forum to clarify what seems to be some areas of contention.

1. My computer got a TROJAN virus, not a JOJAN virus. My computer could have gotten infected a variety of ways. I use my computer on a unsecured network, could have been that or could have been an e-mail, there is endlIess possibilities.

2. I do not know this Becca or country bumpkin person that people are making the assumption that I do. I was alerted earlier in the week, of the drama that was going on on the board. Due to a conflict with another member, I have been staying away from the board, until I came to the realization that I need the support, advice and friendship, too. I can also respond in kind. I am not a horrible person.

3. When I realized what happened to my computer, I notified facebook and OH support. I was fine with facebook, due to the fact that I log out and use my phone to update, etc. When I spoke to member services of OH, I misinterrpreted what the rep told me. I thought I had to deactivate my account and then could re-activate. I leave my OH acct "open" in my favorite tab, so it is password protected, but not required each and every time to log in. I thought because of that it left my account open to being hacked, hence the deactivation. I, myself have had my facebook acct hacked and know others that have had the same thing happen to them. I didn't want that to happen.

4. I do not need to defend myself, but it seems as if some people want to believe the worse in me. I am not a horrible person. I want to thank the people that believed in me and realized that there were two sides to every story. There always is. Assumption is a dangerous thing.

5. I am trying to get my account in OH re-activated, but they just have a voice mail this weekend.

6. It would be great if somebody could copy and paste this to OH, so the people that I don't have in my friends list will know the truth.

7. I am sorry, I had to involve all of you, but I wanted to let you know the truth.

Thank you for letting me have my say.

Michelle

Please tell Michelle to please go to AVG.com, and download a free anti virus software.  Any program would have picked up a Trojan horse.

We are involved because it was a very strange situation.   Also I no longer have your phone number, I have deleted it out of my phone,  hence why I did not call you

No drama needs to be made of this situation, and I hope that this now stops.  As well as people making assumptions that you were turned into OH.  Unlike what some people have done to others on here, and turned people in, learn how to use the block button, instead of being so mean,

Hacking someones account is not that easy and a virus, as you said can come from anywhere.  Everyone scan your computers and make sure that there is no virus' being sent out by you.  My computer is clean, it warns me before hand of any virus that may be in something, and there is plenty on facebook.  I NEVER sign off of OH and haven't for 3 years and never have had a problem, lucky me!

I also do not sign into OH each time... i leave it connected, and SO FAR have not had a problem with that in several years.

(not to say that something could never happen... viruses are tricky!)

Using an unsecured network to connect to the Internet is never safe...no one should do that! If you jump on a neighbor's Internet service, (or however one would be on an unsecured network), you leave yourself open for trouble... Makes sense to me that a virus could come from ANYWHERE in that situation.

I would love to hear from the moderators about this situation... I like to believe the best of everyone, and am witholding judgment. Even when something IS proven, judgment is not my place, but healthy decisions about people with whom to interact is each of our places.

Like Diane said... let's make use of the "block" button and follow our instincts and make the right choices for us! We're all here for help and community...

happy hallowe'en!

What do you mean by that? What are you trying to say?

Thank you for asking Monica.  Here goes.  Years ago I was a leader for Celebrate Recovery.  This is a Christian based program for people in recovery from drugs, alcohol, sex addiction, co-depencency, shopping etc.  I lead the Survivors of sexual and physical abuse group.  I myself am a survivor.  In our leadership training they strongly used this verse.  I will give you an example.... If a person has issues with drugs and they are helping another with the same issue, it is a wonderful thing, a blessing.  But in helping the other person they need to make sure they are not jepordizing themselfs in the process, thus stand strong so they also do not fall.  Does that make sense.  I know that Katt is a beliver so I was honoring her and at the same time reminding her to stay strong to what is right and true for her.  Kind of a self protection type thing.  Don't get in too deep trying to help people.  This verse helped me a lot when I was a leader and If I kept it more handy as I do now Maybe some heart ache would have been missed?  I was just keeping an eye out for a fellow believer.

Thanks for asking Monica, you not only helped me I think by asking you may have heled another.

Thank you for clarifying...I'm a church-kid from way back, a former church leader, and a graduate from a Christian university.  I'm familiar with Celebrate Recovery but have not participated in it.

I believe if someone is going to quote scripture they need to also offer their interpretation of what they're trying to communicate. (I'm sure you've seen hate groups spread their propaganda using scripture...it can be very easy to twist words to fit your agenda)

You make a good point, I've been thinking a lot about support, and what that means and how we can offer it to each other in a way that is beneficial....I might have to post that soon.

Thank you Rhonda. I am not getting deeply into this. I just posted this as a favor and am reserving my opinion until we know what's really going on. I didn't do it to cause drama in any way. I don't do drama. I have enough drama in my personal life right now that I want this to be a safe place for me to come to if I need support. Love and hugs to all. x0x0x0
