200 LBS GONE
Hi Annabelle...I just finished reading your 'story'...my Lord, Girl...what a journey you have been on! Being a Kaiser Richmond patient myself, all I can say is: THANK YOU! My journey from start to surgery was only 5 months...something tells me it had alot to do with your battles...so many people reap the rewards without knowing the struggles and frustrations those before us had to endure. You have proven the naysayers wrong..Congratulations on a fantastic journey..before and after surgery.
We're practically neighbors (I'm in south Sac)....and KiKi also lives in Folsom...do you hear a coffee clatch ringing? LOL We need to get something started in the greater Sacramento area!
Good luck on the 15lbs...with your history...I know you'll get there ;-) Thank you for coming back on the boards and sharing your great news with us ^_^

I just read your story and I can't believe everything you had to put up with to get surgery. Thanks for being a trail blazer and fighting for your surgery. I was also required to lose 10% and felt like a complete failure when I couldn't despite my efforts. I didn't know the law didn't allow them to deny surgery based on this. At one appointment I asked the surgeon why I had to lose so much weight and he became angry with me. He talked down to me and yelled, "I will not do this until you lose the weight!". I explained to him how committed I was because I could prove past weight loss in my charts, but he didn't care.
When I asked my primary care doctor if she thought I could lose the weight he wanted, she said not with all the insulin I was taking and my work schedule. I asked my primary care doctor to call the surgeon and explain this to him and he thankfully listened to her. I had the surgery, but this surgeon has been a jerk with me eversince. I basically see him as something annoying to put up with so I could get what I needed. Luckily his support staff whom I deal with more often has been great.
I am down 80 pounds in 5 months. I feel so much better. I am almost completely off insulin and my blood pressure is normal. I still have sleep apnea, but maybe that will go away soon too.
Thanks for fighting for this!!
