Looking for Roseville area support group

I am having WLS at Stanford (due to insurance) but would like to find a support group closer to home.

I just happen to know of a very local group for you that I attend as well. It is on Thursdays at 7pm at Raley's on Madison @ Hazel, in the conference room next to the pharmacy.

I just had my RnY on Tuesday (11-3-09) and I will be there on Thursday. Hope to see you there!

There is also a group of us that meet on Monday nites (7pm) at the Kaiser medical center in Elk Grove.  It's not just for Kaiser patients, we have a couple from Dr Waldrup (sp).  If you're interested, I can give you the address and directions if you want.

Thanks Suzie, that is really close for me. For some reason I thought SALSA's meetings were for SALSA patients only. I am going to try and make this months (I have some conficts) If not I will be there in December.

Do you attend? Could you tell me what happens at a typical meeting?

I haven't attended the SALSA meetings since my very early days, but I seem to recall it being open to whomever would like to attend. Honestly, with three kid's and a husband's schedules to juggle, Saturdays are the worst day for me to have to drive from Elk Grove to Roseville.

Typically, there is  a topic for each meeting and a speaker or specialist related to the topic. Their is a sort of "progress shoutout" that happens, a "where are you in your journey" kind of thing. I seem to remember everyone bringing a pair of pants they used to fit to show their progress. Also, there is a clothing exchange, so you can trade or drop off clothing that you've fallen out of. Anyway, it was a nice group of people. I hope you enjoy it!
