Switching from Pacificare to Cigna Choice PPO

I'm 7 mos postop. So no worries about screwing up preop stuff (the reason we didn't change last year). I haven't had any complications -- so far.

But I am concerned about followup appointments with my surgeon. Will the change mean I can no longer go to him?

I suppose this is something I'll have to ask his office about next week.

We're going to change because the employee premiums are half what Pacificare HMO is. And my husband and I know our jobs will probably go away 30 September 2010 -- the government is cancelling the contract we work on. So, saving $200 a month for a year is significant. We can keep our current PCP, pediatrician and my endocrinologist.

Anyone have any experience with something like this?

Thanks.

Usually if your doc is out of network, the insurance goes to an 80/20 rule where they pay 80% and you are responsible for 20% but then I'm not too sure on this.

If that is the case, you can still see your surgeon but it will cost you more.
A wise woman once said "You have to remember its only a tool....You still have to do the work....The difference is that you have a big shovel instead of a spoon to do it with."
