Kaiser WLS pre surgery diet

To be honest I am very shocked on how fast the process has been so far. I emailed by doctor in late August and begged him to put a referral in for me. Then about 2 weeks later I got a call to go to the orientation with the surgeon, you know when they tell you all about the options of surgery (RNY or Lapband) then I was scheduled for the nutritionist and then the Psychologist. I now am on schedule to see the surgeon next Thursday so he can tell me how much I have to loose before getting my date. I must admit I probably would be in this place a little sooner but I procrastinated a couple of times on making appointments. I am curious why they do not use the surgeon in Fresno anymore, so you know why? As far as I know I will probably have to loose about 20 lbs. If you have any questions or advice I am all ears! Thx

HI there,
I went through Kaiser Fremont, and we were required to lose 10 percent of our highest weight in the last year before our appt. That was good news for me because I had already started the eating plan in the binder before I met my surgeon.. I walked into my consultation at goal weight..my doctor said he had never seen that before.. it was pretty awesome.  I'm not sure how the other Kaiser's do it.. but the staff at Fremont are really nice and helpful with any questions we had.

Good luck :-)
