What happened to the Good Ol Days in So Cal?

I've had some conversations recently with some "oldie's" from the board about how much this place has changed.  We all are wondering....what happened to the good ol' days.   Remember the Last Suppers?  Angels?  Amusement park trips?  Lunches....lunches...and more lunches?  Holiday parties?  Theater trips?  Cruises?  There always seemed to be something to do.....events that were located where everyone could go without ALWAYS having to drive 2 hours to get to one....events that were open to everyone and where we would take over wherever we were because there were so many of us.   So Cal was the place to be!!!  What happened??

Yeah blame me, everyone else does.  LOL!  I am not one of the "oldie's"  But I can tell you that $$$$$ prevents me from doing just about everything.  ;-(

You would be invited.  Are you sure that's you in your avatar or did you snatch that off the internet?

Yes, for me $$$ is a problem too, but many of these old "events" really didn't have to cost a thing unless you chose otherwise.  It was more for the company and support.  It's sad that there haven't been any last suppers in ages.  The last one I remember was for Angie on my birthday.....almost a year ago!!!!!  I had plans with my boys so I couldn't go, but I sure do miss those.  It was so exciting to have everyone come out and celebrate the big day!

My last supper was in July. It was announced on the boards and a few people did come. It was fun. :)

You are so right, Kirsten.  I am glad I joined OH when I did.  I went to my first OH event in the summer of '06 at Bubba Gumps in Santa Monica.  There I met, Monica W., Gus & Anna (she gave a big ol' hug), Kevin, Judy Anne (she had ps about 2-3 weeks prior), Grace Stone and her sister, Darroll and Robyn.   It was at the same table where these friendly and warm people planned my "last supper" and how they were going to keep everyone posted regarding my progress (since I did not have an angel).  I remember Dana coming to visit me in the hospital and had brought protein shakes, a card and encouragement... SHE DID NOT KNOW ME FROM A CAN OF PAINT.
This is why I (and believe some other folks) attend So. Cal. Coffee.  It is pretty much the only thing we do on a regular basis.  It would be nice to get together as a group rather than groups of cliques.

We need to get together folks.  Old school OH style.  We need to have a lunch (pre-ops and newbies are of course invited).  I was thinking somewhere centrally located  so no one would too inconvenienced.  If you have any suggestions, please let me or Kirsten know.  I was also thinking it would take place during the workweek (I know everyone is busy these days).

I so remember Bubba Gumps...Ahhhhh....Memories!  I still have pics from that day.

Yup...I like weekdays too!  It makes it easier just to go right after work.  And for some?  Weekends are great too!

Miss ya!

Good times, my friend.  I remember being so scared to meet anyone from OH.  I think I had seen Kevin first, then other attendees had started to arrive.  I am glad I did come out, I have met some really nice people because of it.
