I have Blue Shield HMO and when I read my surgical notes it said that my surgeon and another surgeon (assistant) performed the surgery. BS paid 100%. Thinking your group want $$$$.

Hi. I had to pay 1300 up front for the assistant surgeon. If they were covered by my insurance then I would get the money back. I did a few months post op got a refund for a portion of the money. If your doctor is using a PA they may not be covered by your insurance. I agree it sucks to have to shell out a large sum of money but for me in the end it was worth it. The doctors office should of told you up front that the assistant might not be covered and then it would of been easier to plan. Hope things get worked out for you.
