Hi, I'm a newbie. I had a VSG on 10-30-09. I have lost 27lbs since surgery date. I am looking for others in the So. Cal area as I have been unable to attend the support group provided by my Kaiser in Harbor City. I am struggling with the blended diet and what to eat. Just need general we know what your going through support.

Hi Tink!

I am a little ways from you in Yucca Valley (about 15 minutes from Palm Springs) but I thought I would say hey.

I am just finishing my pureed phase (I am assuming thats what you mean by blended) and some of the things I have been eating are Tuna with greek yogurt, cottage cheese and light mayo; fat free refried beans with turkey chili (no beans), greek yogurt and 2% cheddar jack cheese; sugar free jello pudding with unflavored protein powder; salmon made the same way I make the tuna; and today I had my first egg that I pureed with 2oz pastrami and scrambled with 1oz 2% cheddar jack and had no problem with it.  I have also eaten Mimi's split pea soup with ham (they serve it on Mondays, I get it to go and puree it and the tortilla soup at Red Robin with no tortillas, no cheese and no sour cream - the last time I went the waitress actually put it through the blender they use to make the guacamole!)

Those are my ideas.  You might also want to check out http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ she has some suggestions for the puree phase and a ton of recipes when you are ready for full foods.

Hope this helps!

Wow thanks for all the great ideas. I feel like the classes got me well prepared for the surgery and what I needed to do, but not how to do it. THe insiders view of how to realistically live this way. This board is helping, and people like you who give great ideas. Thanks so much.

Hi Tink
Did you have surgery through Kaiser?

I had the gastric bypass (RNY) in August 2007 and I have a support group that meets at 9:30 a.m. on the 2nd Saturday of each month (the first group meeting is Saturday, December 12th) at the Kaiser at Chapman and Lewis across from the Crystal Cathedral.  This support group is for Kaiser patients, Pacific Bariatric patients, LA patients, ObesityHelp subscribers and anyone else that would like to join.  This meeting is open to pretty much everyone no matter what type of wls you had or intend to have.

Good luck.

It sure is good C'ING LESS OF ME!

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
& all are different colors....but they

ALL exist very nicely in the same box.

I had my surgery through Kaiser Harbor City. They have a support group there, but it is on Tuesday nights and I can't make it. Right now I have to work but since I just got laid off and only have until the end of January I may be able to make them anyway. Thanks for letting me know I just may make the drive if I can't find something closer.
