Thanksgiving Update and Wow Moment

Hi Everyone!

Okay first Thanksgiving.  It was fine.  I brought my food, ate what I brought, didn't taste anything extra or test my pouch.  My food was a little dry and not what I hoped for - however - I also didn't walk out sick, popping Pepto Bismal, stuffed to the gills, having to pull over at some point on the way home to go to the bathroom, didn't have a dumping episode, no guilt, etc.  I did sit around with my family we told stories about each other, how we got together with our respective spouses, what we were like as kids, etc and had a really good time.  Bottom line, I love my family and am glad I got to be with them!

Wow moment - about 4 or 5 years ago I had to take my wedding rings off because they were cutting off the circulation to my ring finger.  I couldn't re-size them because of the way the diamonds are set in the band.  So they have been sitting in a safe place ever since.  Since surgery I have tried to get them on twice, each time coming a little close.  Yesterday before we left I asked my husband to get them to see if maybe they would fit and guess what....THEY DID!!!!!!  It's so cool.  I keep looking at my hand with them on.  They are so beautiful and I am in awe that they are on my hand!!!

Thank you to everyone that took the time to share their experience with me about my Thanksgiving question.  I so helped me get through the night.  I truly appreciate you all and hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and have a great weekend!

Horray,,,,see you did it,  I filled my plate lightly and just little bites here and there and I was so done with food.  Of course I could not resist my old habits of dessert, and had some, but it was all good, not enough to make me sick, just full.  I went to bed right after everyone left and I am not getting out...I am so proud of you Leslie...you find yourself to be a stronger person that you credit yourself.  I, for one, am very proud of you, and at Christmas it will be the same way, you won't even have to think about it.

Hugs and love...Diane

congrats on your wow moment too, wait until you have to wear your ring on your middle finger because it's way too big.  My tiny sister who weighs all of 130 yesterday had a ring on, I was sure I couldn't wear it, she had it on her middle finger, I asked to try it on...forget it, it even fell off my thumb....now that felt great.  My ring finger is down 2 sizes, from a 9 to a 7, and my foot size is down almost 2 sizes....this is all something you get to look forward to.

Hugs...Diane

I knew you could do it, Leslie.  It is totally great that you did not test the pouch, especially as new out as you are.  The longer you can follow the rules, the better!  I wish I had never taken that first bite of sweets, because one little bit became two and so on......

Way cool about your wedding rings!!  It was also great to hear that you had such a wonderful time with your family.  A lot of times when families get together, the dysfunction takes over

Now, on to Christmas to conquer it!  You can do it as well!!

Thanks guys.  I really feel especially for the last couple of days that right now I am solely eating to get my protein in.  The thing I look forward to the most is drinking my diet decaf iced green tea and I only get that AFTER I drink my protein drink.  It's a whole new deal.  The holidays used to be so much about food.  The word Christmas would light up in my head light sugared candies....

I really appreciate your encouragement and support.  Well onward with the day!  You guys rock!!!!

Hi Leslie!!! Glad to hear that you had such a great day!!!  I have to admit that I had some sweet potato pie.  Just two or three small bites and I don't really like it but I figured since my taste buds have changed so much.  It was good.  So a little turkey and I was done.
So I didn't cheat too bad.   I am finally losing again  so I don't want to mess that up.
Have a great weekend.
Kisses,
Melissa

WAY TO GO LESLIE!!! I am so proud of you! what a wonderful story to share with all of us. I had a similar expirence this year as well..Hubby and I both had just a little bit and everything was great. We talked and had lots of time to just be together and enjoy each other. Its so nice when you get to think about something else besides just food.

As for your rings..what an awesome achievement girl! It has to feel so good to see those pretty rings on your fingers again..I cried when I read that part :) My ring has been getting lose on my finger for the first time in over 6 years..its a great feeling.

Please keep us informed as to your continued sucess..it inspires me so much to know someone else is doing it right along with me ..God Bless You..Katie

You guys are great!

Melissa and Katie it is so good to hear from you both and I will keep you updated. It is back to work for me next Wednesday!  I think it will help get me in a routine with everything.

Rhonda you crack me up.  I am still working on being able to fit into the clothes from Tom's Farms BUT had to give up the overalls.  I went to put a pair of them on about two weeks ago and they were too big even for me.  I stood in the mirror looking at myself and thought "you look like a clown in those"  literally like a clown.  So I gathered them all up (except one pair) and took them over to the thrift store.  I figured I would keep one pair as a reminder.

Okay I better go to sleep.  Me and my ring hand are tired !
