Looking to move to southern CA
hi all,
Hubby and I are seriously considering moving to the San Diego area (east to El Cajon or a bit further is fine too). Hubby is a database administrator with strong background in Sequel Server databases. Do any of you have any ideas of where he can apply or who may be hiring out here.
We really want to move out with our kids (really the grandkids) but he needs a job first.
thanks for any help.

Hi Holly,
Well I don't want to rain on your parade, but unemployment here in CA is inching up to 12% right now. People are out of work all over. It is very difficult for anyone to find work now and for every job opening that gets posted on Monster or Craigs List, 100's of people apply. And frankly, not much is getting posted. It just appears no one is hiring because everyone is cash strapped and are trying to just stay afloat in hopes that things will get better. I see this everyday in my job as an accountant. My clients are barely getting by and more than we'd like have just had to shut their doors.
So my advice would be that if your husband and/or you currently have work in CO, stay put. Jobs are hard to come by here and the cost of living is through the roof. Sorry to be such a downer, but other then really good weather, CA doesn't have much else going for it right now.

Hi sweetie! I don't want to rain on your parade either, but San Diego is very expensive. I just finally left there and moved more north and that is one of the reasons I left. Just do lots of research is all I can say!
Wish I knew where to direct you for what you are looking for, but maybe someone will have answers for you.
I wish you the best of luck and God's blessings. bigg huggs, Becky
