Hey everybody. I was just wondering what folks order at Starbucks (or coffee place you go to). At last month's LB Coffee I was absolutely freezing and finally went inside to order something warm to drink. I hadn't been to Starbucks in about 3 years and was totally overwhelmed at the menu. It did not occur to me I needed to be prepared. I saw something that said white chocolate and totally lost my mind. Luckily my wife and I went to Costco on the way home so I finished my coffee very slowly...

I need to remember hotter, decaf, non-fat steamed milk...

Morning Linda,

You will get mixed opinions regarding caffeine from folks because each surgeon has  different opinion!  Fortunately, I love coffee and my surgeon said he has no issue with people drinking decaffeinated drinks.  Whoo hoo.  So when I go, I think more of calories and fat and stick primarily to either coffee or non-fat latte's.  Starbucks has done away with some of their sugar free syrups so I don't get to enjoy my holiday favorites like I used to.  And geez I checked the sugar content of the egg nog latte, I dare not it's loaded with sugar grams and I used to love it.  Oh well.  Small price to pay for health, so I enjoy my coffee or latte or in the summer my iced tea and I take a sip from my mother-in-law who had the egg nog latte.  I was completely satisfied with a sip.  For some reason it works for me.

Hope that helps.

Hugs,
Barb

Hi Linda,

A couple of my favorites (and I allow myself caffeine...) Venti, extra hot, skinny Cinnamon Dulce or Hazelnut Latte with no foam.  You can probably order with decaf, but I haven't given up caffeine...

I order decaf, skinny caramel latte most days...sometimes I do cinnamon dolce.
My husband teases me and tells me that I just order hot, brown water!!

I did venture to try a tall peppermint mocha (dumped a bit) and the new caramel brulee latte but this would be very dangerous for me...lots of cals, fat and sugar.

whichever you decide to try, enjoy it and the company of those you are with!  If you are alone~enjoy the time to take a deep breath and as my 13 yo says "chillax"!!

There is of course, just a plain cup of coffee. But this is "Crack"bucks afterall.  LOL  As Barb said there is much debate on caffeine usage.  Some doctors say absolutely no.  Some say go ahead if you want.  I went with the go ahead.  I hate caffeine withdrawal headaches.

In any event, in the beginning I would get a Non or Low fat, Sugar Free Vanilla Latte when I wanted something warm and sweet.  In the summer I opt for a Grande Coffee Light Frapaccino.  That one only has 150 calories in it.  There are now the skinny lattes that you can order.  They are basically the same as the non-fat version I ordered I think.  And you can have protein added to anything they have.  Use theirs or bring your own.

Take your time and be creative.

Stephanie!

Who are you calling a "Crack"Buck?  I take offense to that.  Just because I know where every Starbucks between here and New York is and have visited each one personally,  Just because I stop there at least once a day (most times 3).  Have every Starbucks Coffee Mug ever made.  Use my Frequent flyer card till it wears out and it won't slide through the thingy anymore.  Just because 42 different Starbucks know me by name and know my drink and my birthday.  Just because I only have Starbucks coffee in my house, and that my kids even are addicted to Starbucks does not make me a "crack" Buck.   WEll crap after reading that It does!  CRAP CRAP CRAP, Sorry your right I take it back!

ROFLMAO!

Thanks Stephanie!

The first step Rhonda is admitting you are an addict.  We are all here for you.  And can be found online at any one of those crack buck houses at any given time. LOL

Have a great weekend.

I'll be in the black trench coat and sun glasses.  Just hand me my cup and NO ONE will get hurt.

Being over a year out...I know my body and what issues I have with digestion and dumping...well..I have none at all..lol  When I go out, as in a social group, which isn't often..(I'm sorta shy), I order whatever I feel like having.  Most of my days are spent eating just as protocol requests and I do not deny myself anything during a special time.  Since I can still only eat 1/5th to 1/10th of what my appetite could hold just over a year ago...I get what I want and take the rest home.
Enjoy!  You are still a normal person, just lucky enough to have re-enforced portion control...yeah for RNY! and all WLS!!
