Protein Bars

Does anyone have any suggestions for good protein bars?

I have bought the Met-Rx Protein Plus Bars, but my goodness they are so sweet my teeth chatter.
One bar =
310 Calories
32g Carbs (not happy about this)
2g Sugar
27g Sugar Alcohol
32g Protein

I eat plenty of cheese snacks, almonds, jerky, sunflower seeds but would like to find something else with higher protein grams for snacking.  I do no drink any protein supplements not a big fan of them.  I do however like the Gotein power.  Maybe I'll order some of this and it will kill 2 birds with 1 stone huh, (protein & liquid).  It can be mixed with water or milk

Thanks,
Annette

Annette,

I am with you on the too sweet thing, so I don't eat too many of them.  I do like the Luna Bars but they don't have a significant amount of protein and I use them for times when I am on the run and there is nothing better to eat.  Otherwise, I stick to protein shakes for a boost of protein and I like the Unjury brand because it isn't too sweet.

Hugs,
Barb

I have yet to find a protein bar I can stomach. Sorry I am no help. Beef jerkey is very high in protein and better than a bar.

Thanks Barb and Fake Ass Lola.

I am anxiously awaiting my package to arrive from my mom.  She makes homemade beef jerkey and this year she sent a big bag because of the protein I need.  God I love that woman.

Barb, where are you buying the Luna bars at?  Do they carry them at Costco or do I need to order from a bariatric site?

Thanks again ladies.

Annette,
You can get Luna Bar's anywhere, Target, Trader Joes, Ralphs, I think they sell them just about everywhere.  They are pretty popular.  Just FYI, protein bars are really not that good for you and you can find other high protein snack food that is much healthier and better.  Also, be very careful with sugar alcohol.  It can cause some nasty gas pain and the runs and you can also dump on sugar alcohol and that bar above has A LOT.

So, I would stick to high protien snacks like you have been and avoid the protein bar.

Just my opininon.

Atkins makes a great protein bar. I would stay away from so much sugar alcohol. That seems very high to me.

HI all,

I indulge in protein bars when I don't have the chance to grab real food or I am having to eat dinner in my car during my commute. I know that is not ideal, but sometimes my schedule doesn't allow for the ideal.  I also indulge when I am craving big time for something resembling a candy bar or something sweet.

There is a brand called NuGo that has 170 calories, 5 fat grams, 5 grams of fiber, 19 g of carbs and 12 grams of sugar alcohols. It also has 20 grams of protein. The peanut butter crunch is my favorite. You can order it online at www.nugonutrition.com

I also like some of the small Atkins bars for a pre or post work out boost, though a banana is good too. Gotta get potassium in so you don't wake up screaming in the middle of the night with a leg cramp aka charlie horse.
