Three weeks later
First, congrats on being 3 weeks post-op. Buckle your seatbelt you are about to go on an amazing ride. :-) It is very normal not to be able to get all your protein or fluids in at this time. Just keep sipping and sipping. As for the nausea, I am pretty sure this is very normal. Did your doctor give you medicine for the nausea? I know mine did; however I never had nausea.
There might be someone that can give you a better explaination about the nausea.
Just remember to keep sipping and sipping to avoid dehydration.
Again congrat's!

Congratulations Stacy on being 3 weeks post op! What a wonderful Christmas present you have given yourself..one that will last a life time ^_^
From my personal experience, I have learned that if I got nauseated after eating...I usually ate too fast! And too much!! Not knowing what stage of food you are in (at 3 wks I was on creamy liquids, i.e. soups, cream of wheat, etc), I can only give my personal experience. But try slowing down between bites; take a small bite, put your folk/spoon down, wait 3-4minutes before taking another bite....this will help you learn when your pouch is 'full'. When drinking..take smaller sips! If you gulp, your pouch is going to rebel LOL
And Lola is right...the amount of protein and liquid the docs want you to intake...at this point after surgery...they are goals to be reached in time. Do the best you can...you will in time be able to get the required protein and water in. Don't rush the process...you are still healing inside...it's all a learning process and from my understanding, it will take a life time to get it 'right' ;-)
These were 'tricks' Kaiser told us about...hopefully they will help you, too ^_^
Merry Christmas!!

As everyone has told you, it will take time to get to all your protein and water in. Try protein bullets, try your shakes, try anything, to try and get it in. It does take time and remember your tummy is still sore from surgery, so don't worry about it. It will take time. I am sure your doctor will give you some pointers at your one month checkup, just hang tough.
