“Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!"

Happy New Year!

(Even though I am still a newbie)...I am thankful for...

1.  Finding this support resource and the California forum!  I will be counting on everyone here to help me through this journey I am starting today! (Today is my 1st day on my 5 day liquid fast "pre-op diet").

2. For the opportunity to have RNY next Wed. 1/6/2010 by Dr. Mark Takata at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, CA and have all costs (except 1st $500) covered by my insurance.  (I don't think I would have appreciated this or the fact that I only started this process on 10-30-2010 and already get to have surgery on 1-6-2010.  I have learned from reading everyone's post/challenges that I am very blessed to have this paid for and have had an easy, quick journey so far).

3. For the promise of living a longer, healthier life if I lose weight so I can live a long life with my awesome husband Orlando and precious 2 year old daughter, Ella.

All the best in 2010 everyone!

Hi Barb and Cali,

I am unusually optomistic when a New Year rolls around, but this year it's even more so thanks to my surgery and weight loss the past 7 months. Onward to bigger (well smaller in my case) and better things!

Today I am thankful for.....

-Feeling optomistic about my future for many reasons
-having all of my basic needs met and having much more than that in my life
-For the first time believing I might not only feel healthy mentally, but physicyally, WOW!
-My mother's amazing recovery from cancer surgery and possibly adding many more years to her life
-My husband who is still thrilled with the world's wonders and is curious about almost everything
-Despite their major dysfunctions, having a crazy family to belong to.

Happy New Year!

Barb,

Sorry it is so late that I am posting to you!  Thank you my freind for taking the time to post this each and every day without fail.  You are such a wonderfully commited person!

Today I am thankful for so many things!

1.  The wonderful friendships I have made on this board.  I have met some amazing people that love and support one another.

2.  My awesome husband that loves me faults and all.  A man that God has truely made just for me.  He is not perfect nor am I and I think that is what I love about him the best!  He is amazing in my eyes.

3.  The wonderful children I have.  Imperfections and all.  They love me unconditionally and what I love the most about them is that each and every one of them give love in abundance!

But the number one thing I am Thankful for is God!  Without him and his awesome love and guidance I could not be the person I am today.  He made each cell of me and loves each imperfect cell that makes me who I am today.  I pray that he brings at least half the blessings in 2010 to me that he did in 2009.  That is what I love about him, he does not give me what I deserve, he gives me what he wants me to have and what I need.  Thank You God!  In Jesus' precious name AMEN!
