The most important COUNTDOWN of my life!

Happy New Year!

Tonight at midnight...now only do I say good-bye to 2009 and the decade, but I am also saying good-bye to all of the food I have eaten over the past 20 years that have made me super morbidly obese!

I start my 5 day liquid fast at midnight tonight as I welcome in the New Year and the New Me! I have been counting down... I am having RNY gastic bypass surgery on Wednesday, Jan. 6th with Dr. Takata at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, CA at 7:30 a.m. All prayers, thoughts, words of encourgement are welcome and appreciated!

I have every emotion you can imagine racing through my mind at the moment. I am scared, nervous, anxious (especially about the hospital/shots/recovery/drain/pain part - I'm a big baby in a grown up body). I am also hopeful, excited and optimistic that my future will be bright and this decision I have made will help me to live a long life. I have so much to live for, especially for my husband and 2 year old daughter!

So tonight as everyone is ringing in the new year, I'll be ringing in the next chapter of my life. I wish everyone the very best in 2010. Let's make this coming year, the best year yet!

Happy New Year!

Cheers,

~ Cindy M

Cindy -

Welcome to the Cali board.  Congrat's on your upcoming surgery.  Get prepared for a ride because what a ride it will be.

Many of us do not drink and the eating part is minimal.  I personally would be lit up by now and would have eaten just a crap load of food.  Not this year.  I am actually at home drinking crystal light, had a couple of buffalo wings and tortilla chips with chili/cheese sauce.  It is just a way of life now.

Your emotions are normal.  Focus on the positive, and keep positive people in your life.  I find this is what works best for me.  Any negativity I get, I walk away from that person.  Eveyone has different results and feelings on their surgery.  I for one feel that I was truly blessed as I had absolutley -0- complications, have had no problem with any food, and am a little more than 1/2 way towards goal since July 14th.

Stick with us on the Cali boards.  You will find some really neat people, make some wonderful friends and aquaintances.  There are several get togethers and we also do a WWW (Wacky Weigh in Wednesday).  Be sure to play along as we track the loss / gains for the year.

Wishing you the best with your surgery and may it be uneventful.  Speedy recovery.  What a wonderful way to bring in 2010.

Happy New Years to you and your family.

Thank you Annette for your encouragement and warm welcome to the Cali board.  I didn't even know it existed until I read a post from a friend I met here online and in person at a support group ("keem"). She is wonderful! I also appreciate you spelling out what "WWW" stood for.  There are so many acronyms on these boards and as a newbie, sometimes it is hard to figure them all out!  It's like learning a whole new language for me!  How do I participate in WWW?  Thank you for all of your support!

Happy New Year Ave Annel!!!

Thank you so much for your offer to help me over the next few weeks!  I am definitely going to take you up on your offer.  I am so blessed I have you & Melissa near by who have gone down this path before me.  I really want to learn from both of you so I can be successful too!

Also, CONGRATULATIONS on achieving ONEDERLAND!  That is my goal too!  Just like Dr. Takata told me last week at my H&P appt, it doesn't matter if I make it to 160 or 180...just aim for the 1's!

Thank you for emailing me your personal contact info too.  I'm sharing it with my husband Orlando and have asked him to give you & Melissa an update after my surgery on Wed.

I start my 5 day liquid fast diet today.  I hope you enjoy your New Years Day today.

Thank you again for all of your support & friendship!  I am so grateful!

Hugs right back at you,

~ Cindy

Happy New Year Cindy,

Like what has been said before, focus on the positives of the surgery and not the negatives. Congrats on the decision of having WLS and trust me, its is well worth it. You will be so happy that you have had it done.

The emotions are normal and we all have experienced them. Everyone is different with the procedure so dont sweat the small stuff. I left the hospital with no pain meds and really didnt need them afterwards anyway. Just remember to keep moving after the surgery so the gas will come out and will make your recovery much quicker.

Welcome to the California Forum and we will make room on the Loser's Bench for ya.

Have a great day..............Rick

Happy New Year Rick!

Thank you for your message and kind words of encouragement!  I need to keep reminding myself to not "sweat the small stuff"!  I'll follow your advice and keep moving to get the gas out (I hadn't heard about the gas part yet!).  I like to be knowledgable because "knowledge is power" but sometimes I end up freaking myself out with everything I have learned from everyone too!

Also, thank you for making room on the Loser's Bench too!  I have never wanted to be a "loser" as much as I do now!

I appreciate the warm welcome to the California Forum!

Cindy,

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery and welcome to the Cali Board.  One year ago today, I too started my liquid diet pre surgery as I had mine on January 8th.  This has been the best thing I have ever done in my life (besides marrying my husband Ron).  I've had no complications, no dumping (except a nurse caused one right after my surgery by making me take my diabetes meds in orange jello) no adverse reactions to food etc.  I am off all medications for diabetes, high blood pressure and cholersterol.  I am lovin' life and have made some awesome friends on OH that will last a life time.  Do partake in the luncheon's and coffee's your way, you'll meet wonderful folks.

Feel free to ask questions and by all means read blogs.  We're saving a nice warm spot for you on the losers bench!

Hugs,
Barb
