5 days out from VSG and no bowel movement, normal?
I realize that I complettely cleaned out before the surgery on Tuesday, I didn't eat anything Tuesday or Wednesday, and I haven't eaten much since then. But I am al little concerned. Seems like there should have been some sort of rumbling around by now. I have commenced using the Benefiber in my protein shakes, so maybe I'm just looking for something to be anxious about. Of course, the Dr. office is closed for the holiday weekend, and not even taking messages till Monday.
Hi. I was 5 days before I had a BM. Are you at least passing gas, and not having any abdominal pain, that is different from the surgical pain you maybe having, and your not vomitting everytime you try to eat something?Your body is holding on to whatever your putting into it, because your not putting much in. Hope things move along for you soon. Congrats on having your surgery. See you at the next lunch.

YEP, everything is exactly as you describe. I am passing a little gas now and then, I'm not having pain, except when I belch = ouch! = not vomiting, or even feeling the urge to, and everything else is fine. I guess I'll just continue with the Benefiber and let nature take its course. Thanks, Eileen.
It took two weeks before I had my first BM.
I've only had a few since my surgery on Nov. 5, 2009.
I find I am having to take laxatives which I'm sure isn't normal but I'm reassured that this is safe.
You should confirm with your doctor and rest assured that all is normal.
Congratulations on your surgery. You'll love the results!
