Greetings,

I can't believe my surgery is 25 hours away.  I am still very nervous, scared & anxious but am really trying my best to offer it all up to God.  Your thoughts and prayers (for both me & my surgeon, Dr. Mark Takata) are appreciated!

I started this "official" journey on Oct. 30, 2009 and weighed in at 332 lbs. but as of this morning, I finally hit "twoterville" and weigh 298 lbs!  So I have lost 34 lbs. on my own in 2 months.  I am hoping to be in "onederland" by Christmas!

Any advice, support or encouragement for my final day of pre-op would be appreciated.  I have so much to live for and I don't want to die!  I want to be at peace with my decision when I arrive at Scripps Green hospital tomorrow morning.

Thank you all for sharing this journey with me!

Blessings, CindyM in Poway, CA (San Diego county)

I will be offering up prayers for you today and tomorrow morning as you begin this wonderful journey.  We'll be ready to slide on over on the loser's bench making room for you!

As for advice......... follow your surgeon's protocol!!!!  Do exactly what he says and don't cheat.  The rules are there for a reason - to help you obtain goal weight.   No matter what anyone says they can eat or what their surgeon says, follow the surgeon in charge of YOUR case and YOUR journey.  This is about you - not anyone else.  You are re-learning how to eat and taking charge of YOUR life.

Hang onto your hat as you're in for one awsome wild ride!  I had my RNY 16 months ago and it's been incredible!

Hi there!  Congratulations on your surgery tomorrow!!  Expect nothing but the BEST!  34lbs! What a wonderful way to start your journey...and it will only get better, we promise ;-)  Your first few days or week may be a little rocky..it's normal!!  Just do as Mo says...follow YOUR doctor's instructions..and never be afraid to call him or his office.  You are NOT 'bothering' him or his staff...this is all about YOU...and YOU deserve the BEST!

Come back here often, if not daily (some of us do get addicted LOL)..talk to us, ask your questions...there are plenty here and we have all been where you are..brand new to the process and feeling all kinds of emotions. ^_^  No question is 'stupid'...getting answers is the way to learn.  And knowledge is POWER!

Good Luck and let us know how you are doing after you get home!  WE CARE!

You know there is one great thing about the losers bench, everyone is losing weight and there is always plenty of room!  Good Luck on your surgery and remember it is normal to be nervous, scared and anxious.  I agree with Mo Mo, follow your doctors orders.  I would also add get plenty of rest when you get home, you are having major surgery.  You can walk around the house and will probably want to in order to get rid of the gas they pump you up with.  Be patient with yourself too!  Let us know how things are going.

I was scared out of my mind, and I left it up to God and here I sit back at work 3weeks after surgery, and 40+ lbs gone forever!

I will pray for you, and I will send all the positive vibes I can your way, this will be the best thing you ever did!  Congrats and good luck tomorrow!

It is nice to see other Dr. Paya patients on here.  I think he did an amazing job for me, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the minimal scars I have.  God Bless his staff too.  They got me from approved for Consultation to OR in one week!  After 4 long years of waiting, and going crazy!
