April 2010
Do you know what that does to me? April is FAR away, we are talking 2.5 months away. And to boot I don’t even have a finale date in April…
Surgery, my VSG I had my consulation yesterday and that’s the news I got. UNLESS a miracle happens and someone cancels and I can get in earlier. April the only good things I can find about this is that MY birthday is in March and I can still have a little bit of cake and ice cream with my son. And as my hubby reminded me, I can still drop the weight I wanted before surgery. I am still set on being only a hundred pounds overweight ( over MY goal weight). So as I thought, here we are on the waiting game. Bring on the will power!
So got any thoughts, comments, anything to cheer me up?
I was jumping out of my skin with anticipation. I had to wait so long to get approved and get a date, at times it was really emotional. But YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY! There will be lots of things to do before surgery. I cleaned house and even shampooed my carpets....
Take this time to read and metally prepare. You can make arrangements for taking care of chores and your family while you are recovering...(baby sitters, grocery shopping etc)
The time will pass quickly though, and if youäre like me you might even ******vous wreck just before surgery. Its all good though, all a part of the journey.
You never know, a date might open up thats even sooner, good luck!!!
Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

Hey Katina...I know exactly the disappointment you feel. When I finally got to the point of getting a date, kaiser gave me one that was 7weeks away at the time. I was soooo upset...like you, I wanted it done 'yesterday' LOL
But! There really is a silver lining in having to wait...honest! Remember this is a life style change...for the rest of your life (IF you want to be successful!) Don't let that little voice in the back of your head start messing with your thinking....you have already accomplished a lot....almost 50lbs gone!! You have already dropped below 300...how cool is that!?? Your hubby is right on, too....keep doing what you have been doing...change nothing!! Take this time while you're waiting to reinforce in your mind what your goals are, how YOU need to continue to take charge of your choices and best of all, this surgery is for YOU. No "stinkin' thinkin'...stay positive, give yourself NO excuses to fall off the wagon. For each day you stay on track, each pound you lose pre-surgery...the reward will be a safer, quicker and easier recovery.
I do know with Kaiser (Unfortunately, I don't know who you are going thru), you can call on a weekly basis and bug them LOL Well, I mean, 'remind' them you will take ANY cancellation that comes up (assuming you can go at the drop of the hat)...I have a friend up here who called and got a cancellation for 3 days away LOL
It's always Murphy's Law..when you are on vacation..time flys by....when you are waiting to go on vacation...time crawls by slower than a snail. Hang in there...time will pass in it's own time...but your turn will come and all of a sudden you will be a day away and wondering where the time went!! LOL
I wish you well...and keep posting here...we'll be right here for you! ^_^

April will be here before you know it. This is just time for you to get prepared and buy your supplies and get as healthy as possible before having surgery done. You can meet the goal of weight loss that you wanted to :)
This whole waiting process kinda sucks but it will be so worth it in the end.
Love ya

Hey,
Everything went well with my appointment with PB. I found out that I am not crazy which is a releif. The internist was cool and he said that I am clear from him. I have was assigned to Dr. Taller which is cool. He is one of the newer guys but I have confidence in him and he made me feel really comfortable.
I have no pre-op diet so to say until the 24 hours before surgery. Ummm.... Everyone said that everything looks fine and that they wish me luck, so now I wait. I don't have a date yet but Dr. Taller said that for Kaiser patients it is generally a month after we do our 3 appointments until surgery day. I am so excited and I can't wait. I will make sure I let you know when I have a date...Almost there :)
*hugs*

Katrina,
Didn't it just feel like we had Halloween? Can you believe it, that was about 2.5 mos ago and it seems like yesterday. Don't fret, it will pass quickly. Like the others have said, use the time to prepare mentally and physically and each lb lost makes surgery so much easier.
We're with you all the way.... on the road to the losers bench!
Hugs,
Barb
