John Muir Weight Loss Surgery Center

Has anyone undergone a WLS procedure (specifically the Sleeve) done at the John Muir Weight Loss Surgery Center in Concord CA?  How are the doctors, the staff, aftercare, ect?  If your chose procedure is denied by insurance do they work with you on appeal?

Hi. I had my surgery at John Muir a year ago. I went with the RNY, partly because it was covered by insurance, and it was the surgery I knew the most about.

 The surgeons are great, as well as the staff. They have a great follow up program and a support group that meets the 2nd Saturday of every month. The support group meetings are open to anyone who has had or is considering surgery, whether you had it there or not. The next support group meeting is next Saturday at 10am in the Lesure room on the first floor.

I am very happy with my choice of surgery and the care I received over the past year. I just had my 1 year follow up.

Thanks, Eileen.  I'm in the early stages of the journey.  I attended the seminar about a month ago and have been approved for the program.  I have the Nutrition consultation on the 17th followed by the psych eval.  I'm going to attend the support group next Saturday too.  I've chosen the sleeve but from what I've heard and read I'm going to have to fight my insurance (Blue Shield) to get it covered.

I had my RNY done there 6 1/2 years ago.  The doctors and staff are the best you will find anywhere.  Our monthly support groups are great, the group consists of pre-ops, newbies and old timers like myself.  In question you have will be answered.  The meetings are run by the Nurse Manager of the weightloss surgery center.  The surgeons have done many sleeves with great results.  Good luck
