Pics of my Stricture- Before and After

Good morning everyone,

I posted pics of my stricture before and after the Dr. dialated it.  As some of you know I have been very sick with nausea and vomiting the past 3 weeks and was in the hospital for 6 days.  I have been soo depressed while being sick and had the thoughts of regret having surgery.  I really haven't ate much these past few weeks because food would just make me so sick, drinking was hard too. I couldn't get any sleep at night as I would keep dry heaving throughout the night.  I went to Dr. Boone on 4/26/10 which was exactly 2 months from surgery and I am down to 226 pounds! 59lbs lost in 2 months!... I had an endoscopy and dialation about 2 weeks ago.  After that first one  I still had all the nausea and vomiting so I did not get dilated enough.  I went for my 2nd endoscopy and dilation yesterday 4/27/10 at 1pm.  Right after my procedure I felt soooo much better.  Ive been able to drink and eat without getting nauseous or throwing up right away.  I really hope this is the last time I have to get this done.  Feeling sick all day for these past 3 weeks has been really hard.  I feel so much better today .  Thanks everyone for your help and advice.  Click on the link to see my stricture before and after pics.

Nathalie I really hope you are feeling better and this last endoscopy is your last.  I was thinking about you last night on my way home, you have been going through this longer than me and have so many more procedures.  I know how your feeling and i really hope you're feeling better soon.

hey,
I just got home from the hospital last night to see how long and if I can make it on my own. I think that I can it is just a little scary. How have you been feeling? Are you able to get foods/liquids down? I have had a total of 9 dilations so I hope that I am done with this... my doctor says he is about 90% sure I am done with this problem. I can do this it is just a little scary.

Anywho I hope that you are doing well. Take care and keep me updated.

Hey I'm glad to hear you are at home...It must be somewhat nice to be out of the hospital...how have you been doing so far??  I have been feeling okay.  I have gotten sick/nauseous a few times so far, so I think I will need another dialation real soon.  I am able to hold down liquids and foods but still having some dry heaving issues.  I hope a third one will be my last, I just want to get back to being me like i'm sure you do as well.  I hope you are doing good and wow 9 all together, that is a lot.  I wish we were one of the ones who had no complications ;( but oh-well what can we do but try and get better.  Let me know how you are doing.

Physically i am doing pretty good. I still have some pain from when my gallbladder was taken out but other than that I have been ok. I am having a hard time emotionally right now. I am having a lot of anxiety with everything. I cant help but be scared about having my stomach close off again. I know when I left the hospital i was open but i am still afraid. I know it might sound silly. I am just so tired of this whole thing. I dont regret the surgery... yet. But I am really really tired of this whole situation.

I hope that your next dilitation is your last, because this really sucks. Keep me updated and I will do the same. I will also keep you in my prayers.

Hey Nathalie how is everything going? I hope your spirits are up and you are doing good?  are you still out of the hospital?  I just had my 3rd dilation friday but yesterday I was sooo nauseous.   I'm feeling how you are...emotionaly this is hard because i never know what to expect when I wake up in the morning.  I'm not sleeping well and i just want this to end already. Let me know how you have been doing?

I'm feeling ok. I was in the hospital for another 3 days and my 10th dilation. My stoma looked pretty good but I had nausea so they decided to keep dilating until it works instead of doing a revision just yet. My spirits are better but I am sure that the meds I am on are helping me at that too. I also understand just wanting this to be over with. We knew this wasn't going to be easy but I sure didn't sign up for this.

I know about the worry, anxiety of what to expect, and not sleeping well. I finally broke down and asked for something for anxiety from my surgeon. He started me on a low dose of Xanax but after this last hospitilazation he started me on a low dose of Ativan. It helps me to get through the day. Also helps to calm me and I can sleep once again. There were times in the past few weeks that I was sleeping very very little and waking up often.

I am also on a slew of meds to help with nausea. Basically the combination of all the pills helps the receptors to my brain to block out the nausea. For that I am on Reglan, Zofran, Ativan, Benedrl, and a Patch behind my ear. I know the combination sounds weird but my surgeon talked with the nurses/doctors that work with people who have chronic illness (ie:chronic pain or nausea) and that is what they suggested. So far so good I just get a little drowsy if I am not up doing something.

I hope they get you fixed up soon because the longer this goes on the longer it is to hang on in my opinion. Take care and keep me updated. I will send you a PM with info on how to contact me outside of here.

Good to hear from you....I am glad to hear you are doing a little better.  So you have the patch behind your ear too? Transderm scop?...me too , that with reglan seems to help a little....I had the patch off for about 3 days and i'm not sure if thats why i was very nauseous yesterday. I ended up putting a new one on yesterday evening and feel a lot better today.  How is your eating going? I eat but it almost feels sometimes since i been nauseous for so long I feel nauseous when i'm really not, i don't know it's hard to explain.  My doctor brought up revision at my last visit.  I would much rather be dilated rather than going through surgery again and probably more complications along with that... If all the nausea medicine is helping right now thats great but  i don't want to live on it forever.....I'm extremely tired of this and I just feel depressed and would give anything to feel normal again.  Hopefully soon.  I hope you are almost done with all this.  After 10 dilations you deserve to have this end already.  Good Luck . I will keep you in my prayers.
