Hi everyone, My pain is pretty bad most of the time even when I am taking the pain medication from my surgeon. Is this normal?  I can hardly stand up from sitting position without help and it is excruciating painful. Has anyone else recall ;having this much pain after surgery?

Do I call the doctor? Help.....
Thanks, Amy

Hi Amy,

If your having that much pain, I would give your doctor a call or go to the ER. If your having trouble standing up because of pain, that isn't normal. Keep us posted on what happens. I hope you feel better soon.

If you are in that much pain Amy, then yes, call the doctor.  I had little to no pain after WLS and just a bit more after my hysterectomy a year ago.  In both surgeries I was done with pain meds within 2 days of surgery so again, call your doctor.  Everyone's pain level is different, but better be safe then sorry.

I agree, I did not take any pain medication after I left the hospital so something is wrong. Don't put off calling your doctor.

Call your surgeon. I'd hesitated to go to a local ER, since may doctors are not "up to speed" on wt loss surgeries.  Your surgeon should be the one to call.  Dave

Hi Amy, sorry to hear that you are having pain.  Call your surgeon because he/she knows much more about your surgery than anyone.  Your surgeon may want to see you and/or send you to ER. However, don't delay in calling your surgeon whenever you feel that something is not right and/or you are in pain.  If you cannot reach your surgeon then me, myself, I would go to the ER and just  make sure that they know that you had surgery and what type of surgery you had.
Keep us posted.

I'm glad to hear you are doing better Amy.  The pain that I had after surgery was horrible horrible gas pains from the air they pump inside you for the laporascopic surgery.  I had it when I had my gall bladder taken out too.   I couldn't lay on one side or other for very long and it was painful.  after about 4 days it went away.  I don't know if this could be part of it for you.

take good care of yourself and big hugs!!

 Amy,

Glad the new pain med seems to be working.  As everyone has already stated, if you are unsure of anything, call you Dr's office.  There is no such thing as a dumb/stupid question.  They are there for you to help you through.

I was lucky and had -0-, nada, none, pain 3 hrs. after surgery.  I was very happy about that as I have a very low pain tolerance.

Feel better and hoping to see you at the next LB coffee.
