Hello Everyone,

After a dreadful appointment with Dr. Alami at Kaiser SSF back in June, I have decided to meet with another surgeon and I was wondering if anyone had any feed back on Dr. David Le? I have been told he was a pretty laid back cool guy, but then again I heard that about Dr. Alami. I guess you can say Dr. Alami and I mixed like oil and water. He's got a personal dislike to those who use tobacco products and I've committed to quit smoking in order to have this procedure done. I felt that it was very unprofessional for someone to carry over their personal dislikes into their office. I quit, I told him I did and he basically acted like I did nothing but waste his time. So, therefore I was encouraged by my NP to meet one of the other two surgeons, so I'm thinking of Dr. Le.

Any feedback on him would be wonderful.

Thanks so much,

Shelley

I love Dr. Le and wish he was my full time dr.  He is kind and does have rules and expectations.  Dr. alami is loved also as well, sorry you had a bad time of it.  Good luck to you!!

I know someone who has had Robert Li... and she has done very well.

I know it is hard... visualize that this doctor is going to be great.
Smoking products are hard to quit...  Kaiser has a very strict policy about  it, In orientation Dr. Dutta was more than clear about it. They test is for it, it is in your system... surgery is cancelled,
It is for our own benifit it complicates surgery big time.
When is your apt with the new doctor?   Things will work out. Have faith.

My NP said if I give him 5 more lbs in the next 3 weeks he'll schedule me with Dr. Le. Last time he told me he'd schedule me with a surgeon he said in about 6 wks we'll get you in, but they had me in there in 10 days. Hopefully this will work for my scheduling with Dr. Le.

I feel that my disaster with Dr. Alami was because he lets his personal feelings regarding tobacco use play into his judgement of surgery candidates on his professional side. It's unfair the way I was treated and I don't want someone who's going to tell me in so many words that I'm wasting their time. I appreciate him being firm on the no-smoking thing, but this was in regards to ALL aspects regarding the surgery process. So, I made my decision to meet another surgeon. It's me who needs to feel comfortable with who's going to be performing major abdominal surgery on me and that's that! :)

On to the strict rules... Oh I know!!! I know they'll test for it and I'm not worried about the testing at all. I just need to continue to drop the weight and I'm good to go!

I have faith... I've had it more in the last year of my life than ever!
