Since I am very new to all this I was wondering IF I get my PCP's approval what kind of hoops will I have to jump through before surgery? I am becoming very consumed in researching this and could use all the help I can get... Thanks in adavance~ Felicia

Hi Felicia, It all depends on what your surgeon will tell you to do, but I had to have a psych evaluation, an endoscopy, some need a sleep apnea test and an appt. with a cardiologist. I also had to meet with the dietician twice and lose 10 pounds. It goes by pretty quick once things get started. They keep you busy! This web site is an incredible tool, also. I've met some amazing people by using it as a resource. Good luck with everything!! Tammy

Hey there! Yep, I called. Seems that they never received my psych. evaluation yet.....from 2 months ago. So, I left a message for her to call me. I can pick it up and hand deliver it to Dr. Aranow if I have to. That's the LAST thing they are waiting for. So, I'm on it!

Hi Felicia! I had to have an endoscopy, a colonoscopy, stress test, breathing test, psych evaluation, sleep study, endocrinologist visit and tons of blood work. But it does depend upon your Dr and your insurance company. My insurance is being a pain in the you know what right now. Just make sure you know exactly what they want and send them exactly that. I had sent in the psych evaluation that my Dr's office has used for all the other insurance companies they deal with and mine turned me down because they wanted some other form. I'm taking care of that now but it did slow down my approval. Good luck with starting the process and be ready to be patient. But it will come around and happen for you !! Take good care! Heather

Hi Felicia, I had to have a psychological test, nutritionist evaluation, endoscopy, bloodwork, chest xray, EKG and my PCP had to send my medical records. I already had a c-pap machine for sleep apnea so I didn't have to go for a sleep study. My surgeon was Dr. Valin.
