DENIED!!!!!!!!!AND DEPRESSED!!

I called Empire Blue Cross today, I was told I will be receiving a denial letter as they say I dont have a 6 month medically supervised diet. Last week they told Felix that they didnt have psych report so Felix resent it to them, now its the 6 month diet thing. I thought I was going to be approved last week. I know I should have expected this but last week it sounded so good. Felix said blue cross blue shield normally denies the first time around and then okays it on denial. I havent been on a supervised 6 month diet in the past 1 1/2 years. My records do show I was prior to that though and Felix will point that out to them. I hope it turns around. I have an endoscopy scheduled for 1/21 and Felix said to go through with it anyway. Sometime the closer you get to surgery is when the insurance company approves it. Thanks for listening. HOW DEPRESSING. DON'T GIVE UP. THIS IS PART OF THE COARSE.FOR ALOT OF US THE WORST IS THE INSURANCE PART. I HAVE ANTHEM AND THEY ARE SAYING THAT THEY WILL NO LONGER PAY FOR WLS. PUT YOUR FAITH IN THE LORD. HE GIVES US ALL WE NEED. SPLENDALICIOUS

Joanne, If they need 6 months of supervised dieting, what I did was set up an excel sheet. Went back to the year I got married and listed every single diet I've ever been on, how much I lost and gained. I mentioned doctors names, diet plan names and even just trying on my own. I had a column for gained and lost. Since my home computer crashed I don't have the template to share with you, but I'll look at work. If you send me your home email I'll try to help you as much as I can. I feel if you bombard them with all the info you can, they really are backed up against the wall. Don't give up!!! This is not easy on any front, but it is worth it. Cheryl

Thank you so much. I have sent in the records from my doctor and that does list the diets. If I get denied after the doctor talks to them then I will definately do what you suggest. I appreciate your help. Thank you. Joanne

Joanne, I know how frustrating this is for you! I have Cigna and they require you do see your PCP every month and be weighed there and be counseled on proper nutrition. They have even denied people stating the 1st visit does not count.... It is terrible. Appeal the denial and hopefully you will be approved at that point! Carmen
