Yee Hah Im home, how it went
I got home at 9:30pm this past Friday night. I am slowly improving. Thank you all for praying. When I woke up alive I started to cry when I saw Kathy, because the fear I would not make out was over. I was really worried about that sleep apnea rearing its ugly head. They sent me to the step down unit afterward for an overnight just to watch it. The next night I had some more serious issues, blood pressure and fever went sky high. Every nurse, doctor and medic this side of the pacos was in my room that night. Debbie Marcus had come to see me and I was in sorry shape, could not even visit with her for long. It went downhill from there. I was loosing a tremendous amount of blood from my period and had been for about 2 weeks prior to that. The decision had been made to do the surgery anyway period and all. I dont think Dr Bell clearly understood just how much I was bleeding prior to the surgery or he might have post poned. Not that I had not communicated that to people. I told all of his staff and the hospital anesteseologist. Im not sure they truly understood until after. But it was done so we were dealing with it. They had me on coumadin to prevent blood clots which just made me bleed more. but they were worried about the amount of blood I was loosing at the same time. (I have indometerosis and another condition that causes me to bleed like a stuck pig or so my gyn says). Now that Im home the bleeding has slowed alot, almost stopped. Im returning to normal. Will have to talk with the gyn tomorrow about what we are going to do about the stuck pig problem...again.... seems we are always looking for ways to deal with that.
Thanks to everyone who prayed. Debbie, thanks for coming to see me Im sorry I was in such a state. And most of all, Kathy K, thanks for being my angel. You were the bestest angel a girl could have. She knew exactly what I needed when I needed it, I didnt have to explain squat to her. With Kathy in control I was relaxed going in and she kept my daughter in check and her fears calmed. She was everything to everyone. What a gem of an angel. I was truly blessed. Im glad to be home.
Im hugely glad its OVER and IM FINALLY on the other side of it. The loosers side.

Lauren I am so happy your home and everything went well. I promise you that the rest will be a breeze. At times I still feel tired but I take a nap and be ready to go again. I have lost 29 pounds as of today and you will be joining me soon. I can't believe that it has not been four weeks yet and I am down 29 pounds. You will be melting soon. This is the best decision that I have made. My cousin turn 18 yesterday and we had a little family get together and I was dancing like a fool it felt so good to be almost normal. My family is enjoying my ride also they just can't believe how great I am doing. Take your time and before you know it you will be where you want to be. God has blessed us with this special tool and we just have to learn to use it wisely. God bless you and keep up the good work it will pay off. Magaly
Lauren,
So glad you are home and that everything went well. See...i told you there was nothing to worry about..Dr. Bell is AWESOME!!!!
About that"stuck pig" problem..i bled for over six months straight with the same thing..endimitriosis and such..hadmajor cysts on the ovaries..it was gross to say the least....had to wear pads andchange them every freakin half hour..and it wasnt just heavy bleeding, it was clots being passed weeeeeeee...if you are done with those body parts...see if the dr recommends a hysterectomy. Honestly....it was a little worse than this surgery..but not much..of course, you will have to wait til healed..but they took what i didnt need and left me my ovaries so that my "change of life" was not started yet..and best thing is...no more bleeding EVER !!!!!
Hope all is well.if you need anything, just ask !!

Remember the first month is the hardest because everythign changed and we have to learn sip sip sip , walking alot to reduce gas pain and eat slowly or our chest will be hurted if we eat too fast or drink too fast. we all did go through this and relearn from our mistakes. I am going to take you for a walk outside when I see you at your house this Saturday. Please email me to ask me any question or ask anybody on this Ct message board. We all are here to help you. I Can not wait o****ch your double chin disappear soon!!!!!
Hugs

Glad you made it Lauren...suprised they did not check your bloodwork before doing surgery..it's strange how they don't listen at times when we tell them about our own bodies...I went through bleeding problems a few years back like yours and had a hysterectomy...problem solved. I have never looked back. The ordeal is over for now and here you are...best of luck!

Lauren,
Glad you are home and feeling somewhat better. I am sure you are much more comfortable at home.
A month before I had WLS, I had an endometrial ablation done by my gyn for heavy bleeding. Basically, they scrape your uterus out. My bleeding is down to almost nothing now. The best thing I ever had done. Maybe you can suggest this option with your gyn? I don't know if it's right for you, but it's worth discussing.

we have already discussed an ablasion. i just had a d&c a short while back to try and buy me some time. it did not buy me much. i think im just gonna shoot for the hysterectomy as soon as I can do it. its just now worth it anymore. i sat on the couch for 2 seconds and bent over to pick something up. I could feel the rush I got up and there was a pool of blood there covering the entire cushion. i was so upset. i have a 13 year old son, he was sitting on the other side, thank god he didnt see. I threw a towel over it but it was so upsetting. the doc thinks that the wls will stop the heavy bleeding once i have lost the weight and thats why i waited for they hysterectomy. i figured why do it if i dont have to. we will see, i have to wait a year now anyway. thanks for all the well wishes.
if got some oozing from one of the wounds im a little worried about. and i wish to heavens this gas and the gurgling would just go away. its so uncomfortable. i dont remember the gas being this bad with my last lap. but i remember it being this bad with the first lap i had done. this procedure was on par with that one i would say. especially when they took the drain out. i thought i was being disembowled. oh my god that was the worst. i thought i would pass out. yuck. thank god its all over.
you are all great. i love you all, see you at the bowl a thon.

Lauren,
I am sure this bleeding is extra heavy because of the blood thinner you are on. I too, used to have bad periods...not sure they were as bad as yours..but pretty heavy. I commented to my GYN how that has changed and I am more normal now. She told me that was one of the benefits of losing weight..so hopefully you will find the same thing.
Good Luck
Joanie
