Hi Gangs, I will meet my trainer tonight to work hard on weight lifts for an hour tonight. My son stayed home today because last night he had fever 100 and want to stay home for one more day to make sure his fever is gone! Here is your tip which I got from website: Where can I find time to exercise each day? Schedule your exercise sessions so that you have specific times to exercise. Schedule your exercise times around your lifestyle - you could get up 30 minutes earlier or exercise during lunch breaks Protect your free time so that you can exercise Keep exercise kit with you to take advantage of unforeseen exercise opportunities Ensure that you use your leave entitlement from work to help you relax and help free some time to exercise. You don't have to leave home to exercise. You can tailor an exercise programme around your current activities. You could exercise around the home, using the stairs, have some home exercise equipment or exercise tapes Plan an exercise program around walks to local shops (this has the added benefit of the additional weight of shopping bags helping you to exercise further If you are looking after children, why not include them in the exercise program, walk to and from school with them or find a local sports centre with crèche facilities so that you can exercise while they are kept active. It may only take small changes in your daily routine to find 30 minutes of exercise. It is also important to make any exercise that you do fun as you are more likely to find time for a fun activity and less likely to put it off until later. I work all day and am too tired for exercise when I get home, so how can I exercise? Regular exercise can actually increase your level of energy. Why not try cycling or walking to work (or just get off the bus or train one stop earlier). Other alternatives include: Walk or exercise during your lunch break. Many large firms now have leisure or showering facilities, which may make it more feasible to exercise before work or during your lunch break. Using the stairs instead of the lift will also increase the amount of exercise that you do. How can I make exercise fun? Exercise with a friend or social group Exercise with music Exercise in pleasant surroundings - park, beach, riverbank, and countryside. Vary you activity so that you do not get bored doing the same thing all the time - this may mean just trying different walks rather than doing the same walk every day. Wear comfortable clothes that make you feel good about yourself. Take up an activity that you have always wanted to try Take up an activity you remember enjoying when you were younger. Rediscover the inner child by flying a kite or roller skating / blading. Am I too old to exercise? No. You are never too old to exercise. In fact older people often have more time to exercise than they did when they were working. Exercise can also be a great social time as well so why not contact one of the local social groups to see what is going on. 50+ activities at the Macclesfield Borough Council leisure centres are listed here. Isn't it just older people who need to worry about exercise? No. There are many studies that show that the level of obesity (which can cause long term health problems) amongst children and adults of all ages, in the UK is rising quickly. The earlier that you can begin a healthy lifestyle the better it will be for your body. I do enough exercise already. Don't I? Most people over estimate the amount of exercise that they actually do. Are you exercising 5 days per week? Exercising for 1 hour does not count as 2 days exercise. Does the exercise leave you feeling warm and increase your breathing? If not then you should be doing more exercise. How do I know if an activity is safe for me? If you have any doubts regarding your physical condition and / or any activity you should consult your doctor. The Safety page has more details on ensuring that you are exercising safely.

Good Morning!!!!! Yesterday I did 25 minutes on the elliptical and called it quits. The OT I have been doing at work is draining me.... (no excuse, I know). Today, I have a 'date' at 5:30 at a local coffee shop (nervous!!!) BUT I am still going to go to the gym. I will only do another 20-25 minutes and then shower and change... Not skipping the gym for anything!!!! Have a wonderful day! Hugs, Beckie 255/228/170

High standards are good..but don't stress yourself out. Date? please share..we want to know EVERYthing! Hugs Joanie

Good morning everybody! Kathy, I read your post this morning after I had just gotten up. I was seriously considering skipping exercise today since Wednesday is my usual day to skip it. But, since I skipped Monday - I had planned on exercising today. I was sitting at the computer, drinking my coffee and it was getting later and later, and I thought it would be okay to miss exercise today too...and then I thought about this great post you put up here. I got my butt on the elliptical for 30 minutes. Thanks for the inspirational words! Anne
