I had my surgery on the 15th and am home and well today, had to stay an extra day due to an unexplained fever, but it went away and here I am. I feel good except I am so irritable. Is that normal? Anyway, Thank you all for your support and best of luck to you guys!

Hi Kristin! Glad to hear you're home and doing well. Just take your time and recover. Your body is going through a lot right now, so it's normal to be irritable. Heck, I was irritable just from the fact that I couldn't eat!! Welcome to The Loser's Bench! Keep us updated on your progress. Take care, Michelle

Hi Kristin; Congratulations on becoming a "Loser"!! You're going through a lot of changes, so being a bit irritable is not suprising. Best wishes for a quick recovery! Mike

Hi Kristin, Welcome! I hope you're feeling well and taking it easy. Yes, it is normal to be irritable, you've just been through major surgery and while everyone around you is feeling fine, you don't, so of course you're going to be grouchy, and you're entitled! Expect also to feel somewhat depressed. I did and I know I wasn't alone. You've given up a lifetime of crappy eating and a buddy--food--and you will in all likelihood grieve for it. That's totally NORMAL. It took me several weeks to get over that. I can honestly say I still do crave some foods, like McD's, etc., but there's nothing I can do about it, and it does pass. My advice (for when you start eating) is to STAY AWAY from all the sugar-free stuff that now fills the aisles. I've been struggling for 2-3 weeks with it; I'm on a bland diet because of an ulcer, and I'm still not allowed to eat meats and lots of other things. I have however found SF stuff that seems to sit well--none of it of nutritional value. I'm aware of that now, and I am fighting to make better choices. I have my 3-month follow-up on Tuesday, and I'm going to ask for some recommendations. (And if anyone out there has any, please feel free to email me) Take it easy, listen to your body, and stay hydrated! Best, Heather

I was soooooo crabby right after my surgery too. I think it is from food deprevation! Hang it ..it does pass and then the losing begins!!! The first couple of weeks are the toughest! Feel free to vent here on the boards....we've been there and know how you feel. JA
