WLS without PS?
Ok since I am a question asker and researcher on every aspect of this.....has anyone had drastic weight loss and NOT had to have PS after?? I know everyone says exercise is the best thing...is that the way to go? I intend to exercise my butt off all the time...but the thought of the PS on my thighs etc scares me since I have heard the pain of that is worse than any surgery
. i want to be prepared going in and know what to do to best increase the chances I won't need PS. So I am hoping to hear from those of you in the know. Yes I know I am thinking ahead, but if exercise is the key then I want to start it from day 1 or as soon as the Dr says I am able. Or if that isn't realistic I'd like to be prepared for that too!Thanks...

Hi Krista,
You're smart to ask questions and research as much as possible. It will most certainly help you through your journey!
As far as PS...Most people feel they need some work done...depending on how much you need to lose. I 'need' (AKA want) a tt, legs & arms done, and I'm having my first surgery in May. I'm 35, 5'10 and have recently hit my personal goal. And yes, the thought of more surgery & pain scares me, but I'm 100% sure it'll all be worth it.
Exercise will help, but it'll do more to make you healthy than eliminate the Shr Pei Syndrome.
Nice to meet you!
-Deb
OMG I am literally LMAO at the shar pei syndrome hahaha. too funny but unfortunately too true. I saw some pics of people who never needed it and I dont feel I will be that fortunate. But losing the weight is first for me...well having the surgery haha. Thank you for the info and good lcuk with ur surgery in May!!! Keep me posted!

Hi Krista -
I have to agree with Deb. You'll need to exercise more for the health aspects and to keep on program than for it's effects on your skin.
Unfortunately there's no pat answer on this topic. Everyone's body is going to do something different.
I have been exercising since they've let me. Personally, I've been able to tone the tummy pretty well so I don't feel a need for a tummy tuck. Now the legs - well the legs are another story. They have got to go! I love Deb's shar-pei line....LOL...that's just what my thighs look like! And my arms are flapping a bit, but not enough to really bug me (yet). So I'm considering some leg work - next year maybe.
Anyways, definitely research the prospects. Exercise your butt off - But you'll have to see how it goes for you down the road.
FYI - Dr Reilly (Plastic Surgeon) is the guest speaker at this months support group mtg at St Raphael's in New Haven. I believe it's next Wed. 3/16.
Good luck!!!!
Hugs,
Carla
Hi Carla! Thanks for the info about the support group. It is already on my calendar but now I have even more reason to want to go to this one. I didnt want to wait until April for the next one.
I didn't figure that there would be a standard answer but a girl can always hope right? lol
Good luck if you decide to do the PS thing...any help I can give you let me know! I am getting nervous about my first appointment on Monday, but excited at the same time. Nervous I will forget to ask something VERY important.
but its not like i cant always call with more q's(I hope!)
Thanks again for the info!
Hugsssssss
