I need this boards support :(

Hi Bethany, I just want to add my well wishes to you. My family was supportive of my decision, but they weren't jumping up and down about it. Nor would I expect them to be. If anything were to happen while we were in surgery,they would be the ones that would be left to pick up the pieces. You really have to give them a little latitude and I am sure once the surgery is done they will be rallying around you. They love you and are scared. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself and my family. Best of luck to you! Sandy

I just want to thank ALL of you for your kind words and for sharing your own stories!!! I am bringning my husband to the support meetings for sure!!! I think my mom should go as well, I will ask her. Bethany, you are the very first person I am replying to, although I have been in this website for quite some time looking at all the e mails using it as a way of becoming informed on the daily ins and outs of weight loss surgery. I am in still in the process of waiting to have surgery which looks like it's really going to happen end of July or early August. I have been lucky to have family support but have had some resistence with people who do not know enough, they only talk about the things that can go wrong. I have been able to really discuss some of those things but have been able to turn people around after giving them good information on what good this surgery can do for many. I am sure that your family thinks they know what's best for you but perhaps they need to know more of the positive side of the surgery? In any case this site seems to be a good place for some support with some very informed members who are here to help you. Keep posting for support you have mine!
