Need a psych. eval. North of Hartford

I live right on the MA and CT line. (I am going for the LAP BAND) I have been having a heck of a time finding someone who will do my psych. evaluation, who is up in my area. It is hard for me to get to Hartford. Has anyone used anyone is the Enfield/Somers/Stafford/Suffield/Windsor Locks area to get theirs. I would appreciate any info anyone has. Thanks so much.

Check with your surgeon to see who they may require you to go to. You may choose a psych evaluator and find out that your surgeon may not accept that person's eval. You surgeon should have a list of who other patients of their's have used before. As for travel, I have to travel over one hour from RI to CT (middletown) to the surgeon, hospital and all of the psych and diet appts. To me, it is worth the travel time because of the expertise and confidence I have in my surgeon (Dr Aranow) and his stgaff. If this means a lot to you, you can and should find a way to get there. I've talked with another person who also called their insurance company to find out who was in network that the insurance would cover. This was a great way to find out who was in their area. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with that area at all. Good luck. Maggie
