Alcohol Question...(no i'm not drinking)
OK, I don't like alcohol or anything, but what I am asking is can post-op's drink? And if so, what can they drink? Also, is it true that people with our surgery can only have a little bit and be rip-roarin' drunk? I ask because I get slammed with this question all the time and don't know the answer. Can you tell I have friends who like to drink?
Hi Paul,
I find that wine affects me more than anything. Must be the sugar content in it. I get tipsy on a glass very quickly, but it doesn't last long.
I didn't drink right away (I think you should wait at least six months), but I do have a drink once in a while. But honestly, I prefer to eat my calories. I love food. ;)

I have been consuming alcohol since about five months post op. I do tend to get drunker much quicker so I nurse my drinks more as I go. I drink wine, low carb wine coolers, twisted tea and have drank beer. When I drink beer I shake it to get the carbonation out. I don't have a problem with alcohol at all, but have heard that others do.

I can only drink one glass of wine or any other type of drink. I did have two expresso martinis and did not get sick. But I drank very slowly. I did notice how quick they rush to my head, more than before. I guess our bodies change with our tolerance for the drinking. So be very careful.
