Hello all! I am so happy to be here! I have a long involved story so I will save you the drama...In a thumbnail...I will have RNY on 10/17/05..This has been a long struggle for me...A hard decision, went through it all was scheduled for 12/04; got the stomach flu could not proceed..Insurance excluded the procedure as of 1/1/05; many appeals, etc later I finally got my WONDERFUL employer to agree to cover so...Here I am...would love prayers, etc....Of course many people have been trying to tell me that I should not do this as maybe it was a sign in Dec.... I want this so bad and am POSITIVE now that I will be fine...Well, thanks for listening..I look forward to meeting all of you....Patty

Welcome Patty, I've heard nothing but good things about your surgeon. I bowl with a girl named Hilary who had the surgury with Dr. Crum. We all have these sort of feelings prior to surgery....it is normal and just think in less than a month you'll be on your journey to a new & improved life. This website is a great support tool and we're all here for you! God bless! Kelly

RNY on 07/02/04 with
Patty I am sure everyone will agree with me-- if you didn't have thouse small doubts--it wouldn't be normal. Everyone goes through this. You know this is not an easy fix...its as successful as you want it to be. If you have truely done your research--and it sounds like you have-you are ready. All that work with denials and appeals...is an omen too... Its time. Good Luck...and God bless you. Stick to this msg board for the most supportive people in the world. Joanie

Patty- In addition to our prayers and good wishes, you also have a large group of post-operative patients of Dr. Crum's who are ready to help-- whether sharing their experiences at support group meetings, offering their insights into how they managed their struggles and successed, or serving as your mentor. Know that help is only an email (or meeting) away.
