Well, it is on the books for Jan 9 although I must admit that every day I wonder whether I will truely go through with the surgery. It has been almost a year since I started looking into it and all along the journey I still considered it "only a possibility". Only after I was approved by my insurance did it become a true reality in my mind. In the last six months I've lost 35# by eating more reasonably and starting an exercise program. I walk for 30 minutes 5/week, have started some resistance and weight training and find that I really enjoy the workouts. In the back of my mind is the question of whether or not I could keep this regime up long enough to lose the next 100# without surgery. probably like many of you I'm quite good at losing weight; I've just never been able to sustain it! Anyway, just checking in to let you know I'm scheduled in 42 days! Eeek! Do have one question: for those post-ops that were exercising before surgery, how long did it take you to get back to where you were in terms of intensity /duration? I'm concerned I will lose a lot of ground post-op. Any thoughts?

Hi Ozzies mom. I felt just like you preop. I took the whole preop ordeal one step at a time and even on the ride to the hospital I wasn't sure if I was going through with it or not. I am so glad I did. I have gone from 260 lbs to 128 and I feel great. I started working out at the gym 8 months prior to surgery. And I have never worked so hard in my life> I sweated and huffed and puffed each time-but I kept it up. I wanted to be in the best shape for surgery that I could. Well, I was and I started back at the gym regularly 2 months post up. And it has been so much easier. I did have to work my endurance up a little bit- but that was very quick. I started slow. And now, I actually love excersizing and sweating but I do not have to work nearly as hard as I did when I was carrrying the 2-- 50lb cement bags on my hips. Good luck and keep up the good work.
