I cant take it anymore!
I am so freaking hungry. I am 2 days into the pre-op diet. I just feel like gong to the nearest pizza place and getting a large pizza and eating it in my car.
I am a vegetarian so I dont do chicken broth and these damn shakes are making me nauseaus. I cannot live for a week like this.
I e-mailed the doctors office but I have not heard back yet and I just left a msg for the nurtritionist to call me back too.
Is there anyone out there that did NOT have to do the pre-op diet thing?????
I have heard several people say their doctor didnt require one and then I have heard other people say their doctor required it for 2 wks.
Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks, Bree
Hey Bree, It's important that you do this. REmember after surgery you will have to eat this stuff for a bit. There must be some Veggy broth out there . My pre op diet had me putting 3oz's of either shrimp, poultry, or red meat, in with my broth. Since your a Vegitarian you may want to try some tofu or something like that in with your veggy broth. As far as protien shakes what kind are you having? Maybe we can find something that is more bearable. Know you can do it!!! Keep fighting the good fight!
Good Luck! Julio

Bree,
Hang in there I'm sure it must be very hard but you can do it!! From what I was told they put you on this diet so it will shrink your liver and they have to move your liver around durning the surgery. So it's in your best interest to keep up this hard work. Just think you will already be use to a liquid diet when you done. Hang in there girl I know you can do it. Before you know it you will be done and on the losing side.

Hey Bree,
Hang in there sweetie, you will get through this. Like Julio said, if you can't do the chicken broth see if there is a veggie one. On the shakes, try various ones. Atkins are pretty good, so is the Isopure drinks. There are alot of varieties you can try. Go to the bariatric eating website and try some of their products. The nectar ones are good too.
Be patient, try other options you will get through this I promise you. We have all been there. I hated that diet, but now I appreciate it.
You will do great kiddo.
Take care and good luck

Hi Bree - I'm going to be in your shoes soon enough! I remember Judy saying there is a Plan B if you can't hack the advanced recovery drink but she wouldn't tell us what plan B was - maybe you can call Judy or Julie and talk to them - they might have some suggestions...... Have you tried adding some jello or pops to your day? I know that doesn't have any substance to it....... My friend said day 4 and on are the easier of the days - so if you're like her you've made it through the toughest part..... You can do this!
Just think your liver is going to look so awesome the doctor is going to want to take a picture of it and hang it in the office!!
Definitely call Julie or Judy
they might have some good suggestions to get you through the next couple of days.
Hang in there!
Best Regards,
Tammy

Poor thing. Dr Aranow doesn't require it- but he does require an at least 10 pound pre-op weight loss- which accomplishes the same thing- liver shrinkage. Just hang in there- we all have hoops we have had to jump through for the sake of the end result. besides- after the lap band aren't you going to be on liquids for a bit?
Bree,
Hang in there. It will all be worth it. You might want to call around to the diffrent protien shake vendors to get samples of shakes so you will have a bunch to try once you are home from surgery. I had a hard time with the shakes post-op. I finally found some I like. It is all a matter of what you like and what I like you might hate. But I would get samples of what ever you could so you don't have to rush around trying to find protien you can keep down.
I would call your dr.'s office and see what you can do about the pre-op shakes. Good luck hon! You can do it.
Hugs,
Chrissy
