Making you feel down

Just came from my 1 year check up and the nurse in my surgeon office just made me feel like I failed. On my way there I was thinking how far I have come and yes I might of not reach my goal in a year. But I still can continue to try to lose the 15 pounds that I want to lose. These are her words. "Oh, you have lost ONLY 14 pounds since you been here last. Oh, You must not be following the program. Or maybe you have not been making the right choices. Oh, you joined weigh****chers well we do protein first." I felt so little and cheap and yes I have not been perfect, which I don't think anyone has, and yes I have only lost 14 pounds since June but those are 14 pounds that are no longer part of my life and will never be. I might lose as fast as other but I am okay with that. I have been feeling great in the past couple of weeks when the scale has been moving to run into a inconsiderate person. I told my surgeon about her. Anyways now that she has made me pist off let me head home and jump on my machine and sweat my anger out.... Thanks for listening to me over and over again. Hey Girl! You know you have done the best you can and you have come so far, don't let that nurse get you down. It was her failing that you experenced, not yours. Why in heaven would a nurse in your doctor's office say such a thing? She must have been having a bad day. So don't be sad! Be happy your not as grumpy as she obviously was! Sorry she got you down -- but look how far you've come in a year. You said "let me head home and jump on my machine and sweat my anger out.... " could you honestly say that a year ago, if someone pissed you off like that, that you would have run home and EXERCISED? I couldn't have opened the Ben & Jerry's fast enough a year ago after a situation like that! There is so much focus put on the numbers and not enough about the life changes we've made and the success we've had OFF the scale. I am so proud of you for not letting food rule you. That is the hardest part of this process - or at least it was for me. And congratulations for ALL of your success - both on and off the scale this year! Kristin J

I am sorry that nurse got you down but she is not right person for this job. That made you work harder on your machine and use your tools . you will keep success. I am glad you did not go to eat FOODS for emotional eating ! GOOD JOB!!!! Keep your hard work up Kathy k

Magaly, Hey sweetie, don't let her get you down. You have done fantastic over this past year and you should be very proud of yourself. Don't let that get you down or make you think you failed. You have succeeded tremendously and you keep your beautiful head up and be proud. You will keep on succeeding and don't let some nurse who does not know you tell you otherwise. Thank you Kristin and Kimmie, I did my machine already, and yes you guys are right I have done a heck of a great job.... And I will continue to do the best I can.... Now let me get to my homework... Thank you guys again... I was going to take a nap but that will take me out of schedule so I will go to bed early....

What is up with that? Isn't this someone who deals with WLS patients on a daily basis knowing full well that everybody is different and weight loss varies? I am glad you complained about her Magaly. That was just plain uncalled for and totally off base. I agree with everyone else.... you have done a terrific job and continue to show your committment to attaining your goals. I know that after the 18 month mark weight loss from the surgery pretty much ends, but that doesn't mean that you can never lose weight again! jeesh!!! Our bodies still respond to healthy eating habits and exercise and you are doing all the right things. Wow its hard to believe such an uncaring person can work with a doctor that does WLS... she obviously never had a weight problem in her life! Frankly I am surprised she can be so hurtful in her line of work... but people really dont think before they speak. You Look fabulous and you have WORKED hard and sacrificed ALOT to get where you are! Dont let the arrogant people make you second guess your sucesses (and I know you have MANY!)
