Hello OH Family, Well its that time of the year again and we are planning to have a picnic to get us all together for some summer fun!!! Kathy K, myself, Maryjo R, and Carla so far are organizing this great event and we need your input. This is what we have come up with so far: Date: Saturday, June 24th Time: Noon to whenever Place: I thought maybe Silversands in Milford, or WH Beach Boardwalk area or Lighthouse Park in New Haven. It depends on what we have to do to reserve these places. Other suggestions are welcome. We want to have it down this way this year so more people in the Fairfield County & New Haven County can come too. We thought we would do the same with the food and have everyone bring whatever they would like and we could all share with each other. We will find out about grills once we decide on the place. Of course friends, acquaintances and family are invited too!!!!!!!!! We would like to do the raffle again and get various businesses and people to donate prizes, gift cards etc for this. The monies of course would go towards the ABS foundation like the Spring Dance and the Annual Walk do. We would like to plan fun events to do for everyone. Especially if there are alot of children and teens. The usual family picnic type of events, we can get some baseball/softball games going, badmitton, frisbee, sack races, balloon tosses, etc. Maybe some fake tattoos and face painting like last year. Lets make it fun for all!!! Everyone can email me at [email protected] and I will discuss it with Kathy K. I will take a final count of who is definately coming a few weeks prior to the date. We can use all the help we can get too. Come on everyone lets make this a success this year. We have a great group of people here and it would be a wonderful time for us all to get together and have a great family event. Don't let me down!!!!!! THIS INVITATION IS OPEN TO EVERYONE ON THE CT BOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope to hear from you all soon!! Hugs KimC

We had a blast last year and I think as the group keeps getting closer and closer these gatherings will just keep getting more fun. I'll mark the calendar and keep my fingers crossed for good health. I've had a great two weeks so here's hoping that's a sign of things to come. You know I'm good for donating raffle prizes so sign me up for that as well. Hugs, Maggie

Hey Kathy, I will check around here, I assumed they would do them the following weekend in Milford and West Haven. I will find out. Branford is not near here, its over past New Haven. They are usually the first weekend in July but I will find all this out. Thanks for the information and I am glad you will be helping too. I will let you know. Love ya Kim

I've organized picnic's at the Hammonasset Pavillion in Madison. This way if it rains you are covered. It holds plenty of people. Last year it was $120 to reserve it. We can "pass the hat" at the picnic.

Thank you Richard for the suggestion, But we really want to do it down this way. I will consider the offer though. I am going to wait to see what everyone thinks first. I will keep it in mind. Thanks KimC

Hey Kim, Richard does have a point about the Pavillion. If it's too far up the coast then we need to find a place that has that kind of shelter if it does turn out to be a bad weather day. Thats something to consider in choosing a place. Lower Fairfield county is pretty congested. Anyplace in East Haven that has something like that? Maybe Our lower Fairfield county folks can help us out with this. Just a thought, Take Care, Julio

Hey brother dear, Your right he does have a point, Milford Silver Sands does not have a pavillion so thats out. I am checking on Hammonasset and Lighthouse. Most likely I will go with Hammonasset. They have more pavillions and its great for a large group. I am also going to check on Sleeping Giant in Hamden and Chatfield Hollow in Killingworth. They are both beautiful places too. We shall see. But Milford is out. Oh well. Hugs KimC

I can't wait! I think that it is a wonderful idea and since I live in the area I am glad that it will be closer to home this year. I will say that if it will be at Lighthouse Park someone will have to be out there bright and early whether there are fireworks that weekend or not. There are only a few shelters big enough to hold a group our size and as far as I understand it, they go quick on any nice Saturday morning in the summer. Other than that, I really don't care where we have it. And I think the other ideas were great as well. I am sure that someone will volunteer anyway but it would be nice to have an official photographer to document the day, take individual family pics, etc. Just an idea. Thanks for getting started on this so early, you guys are great!
