Hi Melissa, first off: take a deep breath and relax. Congrats on getting a date. You have a month to prepare for the surgery. When I got my date, I had 8 days to get ready for it. When I got off the phone with the scheduler the first thing I thought was "WTH did I just do??? There's no way I can be ready in 8 days!!" But, I had a lot of support from my family on the board, and from family and friends not on the board. They made sure that I stayed calm and was ready. And, they have been a constant source of support for me since my surgery. I don't know what I would do without them.  The most important things are:

1. Follow your surgeon's protocol...Always!

2. Sip, sip, sip...Always!

3. Get your protein in...ALWAYS!!

4. Walk, walk, walk...It help with gas pains right after surgery.

You don't need to take a lot to the hospital with you. Here's a list of what I took:

PJs (I felt soooo much better once I got out of that hospital gown)
Robe
A change of clothes for leaving the hospital
Chapstick
Pillow
Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, etc. (I always take my own...makes me feel better...lol)
A Book
Slippers
MP3 player

That's about it. So sit back, relax and get ready for the ride of your life. Good luck on your weightloss journey and welcome to the Cali Board.

Thank you all so much for your support.  I already feel so much better.  I really have done my research and read several books and lots of posts and I Am ready for this.  I will definitely take all the tips and write them all in my WLS notebook.   THANK YOU ALL.  I know that this board is going to be my lifeline and lifesaver.
