Congrats Sue..I definatly relate to your expereince.  I am 4 days post op now and feeling better every day.  I have found a few little quirks that help with recovery..one is an abdominal binder.  It was approved thru my surgeon's office,  It will stabalize your tummy while you walk or sleep....keeps all yer innards from sloshing around..lol  Also..lay in a supply of chapsticks and/or mouth moisturizers.  They were a lifesaver after surgery..your mouth will get very dry until they allow you on fluids the day after surgery.  Do not overpack to go to the hospital...not even any magazines or books.  Take your training packet with all your protocol with you..if you want to read..read that..it will enlighten everything you've learned already.  Oh!...make sure you are NOT allergic to hospital tape..I am, but didn't know they were going to use it...ask for paper tape if you aren't sure..it will be takin off in 1-2 days anyway.  The ONLY discomfort I have now is the blisters from the tape...if I keep my fluids at the right ratio per hour, my pouch remains my best friend.  If however you eat a popsikle in 5 minutes....your pouch will rebel and ache..lol  Spoken from expereince..lol

Thank you Kim. I am allergic to medical tape. There is one that I can use and I am bringing in mine to show them. I can not even use paper tape. This is a special kind that I get at a medical supply store. I hope they have it at this hospital they did at the last place I had surgery.
